Happy Thankskilling

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, we thought it was time to get nice and cozy with some murder stories. Buckle up because both of these murders took place on Thanksgiving day!

Brandon said it best when he said "what better way to celebrate a holiday founded on mass genocide than...a podcast about murder." OOPS! Sorry, that got dark. Today we're starting with Kevin's Florida Man story.

Florida is infamous for having some of the most weirdly specific, sick crimes (bonus: we're getting into the history of Florida Man Lore in this episode). Paul Merhige went from singing around the piano with his family (creepy tradition TBH, although Kevin does disagree) to...murdering them in a matter of moments? WHAT!? Then, Brandon is taking us into the world of Omaima Nelson, an Egyptian former model and nanny turned killer.

The details of this case will have you never looking at that Thanksgiving spread the same way again! TRIGGER WARNING: Female Genital Mutilation. I'm sure you're all prepared to hear about murder with this podcast but this story involves some intense sexual trauma. Please take care of yourself! And if you're thankful to finally have a gay perspective on true crime, don't forget to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts. Also, share it with your friends because otherwise, you are a loser!

High end. Hello, Anna here with us again. And we're missing Ethan. The game in the game. Well.

00;00;52;00 - 00;01;17;20

Unknown

Ethan. Yeah. He is still in Mexico City because really, we're recording this on the exact same day. My state at. No, but it's actually supposed to be the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Right now, it's the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. Anyways, Brendan, one of, like, the most boring holidays, I might say. I don't love Thanksgiving either. I like the turkey.

00;01;17;22 - 00;01;34;05

Unknown

It's gross. And like, my mom makes some really great turkey. I've made some great turkey. It's just gross. Yeah, we just don't do turkey at our Thanksgiving. We do brisket. my God. I love that. Yeah. Kevin and I did our own Thanksgiving last year. We're going to be doing it again this year, and we're going to be doing chicken because I'd much rather chicken.

00;01;34;07 - 00;01;55;14

Unknown

Yeah. Yeah. We used to go to well, we used to be at Brennan's house, and for a couple of years we went to my super, super religious evangelical Christian family's Thanksgiving in Roswell, New Mexico. Like that sentence got worse as you said. And we will not be doing that again. Wait, you know what actually is hilarious? You know how I told you that I was talking to my grandfather on the way over here?

00;01;55;15 - 00;02;15;17

Unknown

Yeah, Yeah, well, he was talking to me about Thanksgiving, and he was like, I was going to make a t shirt that says l bgt. I don't know why. I think it's some sort of acronym that he made out. He said some for Thanksgiving. He knows the connection. he. It's like a joke. He thinks there's an acronym.

00;02;15;17 - 00;02;38;03

Unknown

I don't I did not ask what the what that what they stood for but he's somehow tying it back to my family. lt0, and, but he's like, but I'm not going to do that because your aunt's not going to like that. My aunt is not homophobic at all, but he, like, has it in his mind. That's and I was like, I think she'd be fine with I think she's okay.

00;02;38;05 - 00;03;03;20

Unknown

This is really funny. I love this because I totally know the accent you're talking about because Anna is from a certain part of Texas that I know about because it's not very far from Roswell. Yeah, it's in general. And so my biological dad, Mr. Kevin to Alaska Senior. But he's not senior. He's just Kevin. He's not a senior yet because his middle name is different than mine, but he always calls me and he's like, Hello, Cabin Kevin.

00;03;03;22 - 00;03;21;20

Unknown

Kevin And yeah, okay. Open minded, not sound correct, but yours to take care of. And like I said, my country accent isn't too bad. It's not bad. Yeah, but it's adorable. He's adorable and he will be on the podcast at some point. I know. He's actually excited. Yeah, it's really funny. He's excited about it, and so are my parents who are getting super into it too.

00;03;21;20 - 00;03;49;06

Unknown

So yeah, I mean, my mom loved it and she is supreme. So, you know, Homocide, we're here for for parents. We're here for parents specifically. Our target audience is parents. So that is our target audience. Yeah, interestingly enough, no, but. But Kevin's Alaska is cool. Not I mean, not cool too, but he's pretty cool. So. But yes, that's that.

00;03;49;08 - 00;04;11;16

Unknown

Brendan, what are you thankful for this Thanksgiving? You know, I'm thankful that we finally did this. I agree. You know, it just it's been fun to see the responses we've been getting, the reviews that are coming in. And if you haven't done one yet, I mean, you might as well just pause right here and do that. Yeah, but just seeing what people are saying in the energy in the community, we're building within them.

00;04;11;16 - 00;04;28;07

Unknown

So to those who were like, You guys dream too much, you can go eat a pile of shit. You know, it's really shitty. We've had people actually tell us that we dream too much and that we need to stop because we can't do everything and we're like, But we know shit. We can't do everything and we will do some of it.

00;04;28;09 - 00;04;51;16

Unknown

Brandon Dziedzic
It was at an early age that Brandon Dziedzic, a graphic designer based in Denver, CO, was introduced to the wonderful world of design. Regardless of being a nuisance to his mother, it was their frequent weekend trips to local antique shops that intrigued Brandon. Every paper, piece of fabric, and piece of furniture had to be touched. He couldn't get enough of the different textures and designs that spread across the store floors. His desire and addiction to tactile objects quickly became his passion. It was this curiosity that shaped Brandon's decision to pursue his career. Choosing to attend a selective Graphic Communications program at his local technical high school, Brandon began to submerge himself in every aspect the program had to offer. Package design, ad design, photo manipulation, and printing on print presses helped shape his decision to major in Graphic Design and become a unique Graphic Designer. After searching numerous colleges Brandon finally decided to continue his education at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL. Not only did the beautiful weather and beaches entice him the Graphic and Interactive Communications department Ringling offered was one of the best he had seen. Throughout his four years he learned the complete circle of design, layout, typography, structure, and balance which quickly granted him many opportunities during his undergraduate years. After graduation and the excitement of living in the sunshine state had dwindled, Brandon decided to take a chance and move to New York City, the city of opportunity. With $300 in his pocket, all of his possessions packed in to an oversized 16’ moving truck, Brandon made his way to the big apple. After a grueling job search that seemed to last forever, yet lasted only a few months, Brandon quickly landed a Junior Design position for an educational software company called Wireless Generation. Here, his already abundant knowledge base of print design, book layout, typography, and branding design grew to include app design and user interface. It was from this experience Brandon began to develop a client base and pursue design opportunities all over New York City and beyond. Brandon currently holds a Graphic Designer position with The Integer Group in Denver, CO. In his free time Brandon loves searching for new design ideas, exploring the great city of New York, crafting, traveling, volunteering, spending time with his husband Kevin and cat Kay, and as always, searching for new freelance opportunities to enhance his designer mind. If you may have any graphic design related inquiries, please feel free to contact Brandon at bdziedzic09@gmail.com.
