Kevin

00:00:10:19 - 00:00:18:08
Brandon
Yes, Homicide on the podcast is for the girls, the gays in the ladies who love true crime and hate the culture of senseless, sensationalizing murder.
00:00:18:12 - 00:00:19:03
Luke Franchina
Thank you.
00:00:19:05 - 00:00:20:17
Brandon
You're welcome. I can't even say the opening.
00:00:20:17 - 00:00:25:11
Kevin
Line sensationalizing murder. So, Brandon, what is your story about today?
00:00:25:12 - 00:00:29:25
Brandon
So my story I titled is a story written in Blood.
00:00:29:28 - 00:00:30:17
Luke Franchina
Oh, my God.
00:00:30:17 - 00:00:39:10
Kevin
That's very intense. It is. Mine is just 8 to 10 years. The cost of freedom from abuse. Oh, it's very lackluster. Apologies.
00:00:39:13 - 00:00:40:02
Luke Franchina
I know mine.
00:00:40:02 - 00:00:40:25
Brandon
Is better than he was.
00:00:40:25 - 00:00:46:09
Kevin
The same for Brandon. We have a very special. We do guest here today.
00:00:46:11 - 00:00:50:23
Brandon
Actually our first guest on just a regular episode of Homicide. The podcast.
00:00:50:23 - 00:00:53:28
Kevin
That's true. And this human you probably.
00:00:53:28 - 00:00:55:13
Luke Franchina
Will now.
00:00:55:16 - 00:00:58:12
Brandon
List like four point something million of you might.
00:00:58:12 - 00:01:00:01
Kevin
Know. Yeah, maybe.
00:01:00:03 - 00:01:06:17
Kevin
But we knew him prior to his fame. And so I'm really excited to welcome Luke.
00:01:06:19 - 00:01:09:26
Luke Franchina
Hello? Oh, my God. Here. I could talk to you.
00:01:09:26 - 00:01:13:14
Luke Franchina
Not long, ever. I was just quiet. I was quiet for a long time.
00:01:13:17 - 00:01:17:03
Luke Franchina
Quiet and a minute. I was like, I'd like to go.
00:01:17:05 - 00:01:19:01
Luke Franchina
Like, Oh, my God, I got to talk to.
00:01:19:03 - 00:01:24:10
Kevin
Oh, my God. I love it. So. Luke, tell us, who are you? Yes.
00:01:24:16 - 00:01:25:21
Brandon
How would people know you?
00:01:25:25 - 00:01:31:18
Brandon
Who? Who is Luke? That's up to that. Pretty much.
00:01:31:21 - 00:01:45:08
Luke Franchina
Yeah, I. I love to empower people to don't possess. I think that is what I'm mostly known for. And maybe my little giggle and maybe.
00:01:45:11 - 00:01:48:26
Luke Franchina
Maybe just a little bit. I don't know. Oh, my God. I love that.
00:01:49:02 - 00:02:04:22
Kevin
It's been fun to see. It's always fun to see people kind of go from who they are and then like, become this thing that other people, they kind of look, I don't know, look up to and look at and are entertained by that. Yeah. And so it's fun that because we met you seven years ago.
00:02:04:24 - 00:02:05:14
Brandon
Something like that.
00:02:05:15 - 00:02:06:18
Kevin
Yeah, something like that.
00:02:06:18 - 00:02:07:11
Luke Franchina
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:02:07:12 - 00:02:08:26
Kevin
Particularly you too, Matt.
00:02:08:28 - 00:02:09:27
Luke Franchina
Yeah, yeah.
00:02:09:29 - 00:02:11:10
Brandon
Yeah. We had the.
00:02:11:10 - 00:02:14:24
Brandon
Fun task of working on a chamber board together, which.
00:02:15:01 - 00:02:15:29
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
00:02:16:01 - 00:02:19:19
Brandon
We will not discuss the name of that chamber. It was a very fun time.
00:02:19:19 - 00:02:27:00
Luke Franchina
It was. It was fun. Especially because I got connected to All right. I did make some good friendships from Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:02:27:00 - 00:02:32:09
Brandon
There was some great people. It was not a fun time, but we got through it and we're not doing it anymore.
00:02:32:11 - 00:02:33:07
Kevin
So yeah.
00:02:33:09 - 00:02:37:12
Luke Franchina
I just realized that that's. I. I'm just not. That's not like I'm not good at that stuff.
00:02:37:12 - 00:02:38:15
Kevin
No chamber stuff.
00:02:38:15 - 00:02:38:23
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
00:02:38:23 - 00:02:50:00
Kevin
No, here's I actually hate. Okay. Networking in general. And the reason that I hate it is I don't like being fake. I like to walk up to people and be like, Tell me your life story. Yeah, tell me everything inside.
00:02:50:02 - 00:02:50:08
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
00:02:50:13 - 00:02:53:06
Kevin
And but. But they're like, Oh, you're in marketing. I don't need you by.
00:02:53:13 - 00:02:55:18
Luke Franchina
Yeah, I'm a dick, you know.
00:02:55:20 - 00:02:56:16
Kevin
Just I'm not going to that.
00:02:56:22 - 00:02:57:28
Brandon
But I'm still a good person.
00:02:58:01 - 00:03:05:22
Luke Franchina
I know. You talk to me. I know like I got have a conversation about. She's like, I don't want to get it know. Yeah.
00:03:05:24 - 00:03:14:19
Brandon
But then part of me is like, well, I really don't want to go to a place and talk to a stranger about the weather for 10 minutes, then go to the next person and talk to the weather about the weather for ten more minutes. Like, yeah, networking.
00:03:14:19 - 00:03:17:29
Kevin
Is just not okay. Yeah, and I seem like a bitch and I just don't like it.
00:03:18:00 - 00:03:19:17
Luke Franchina
I mean what you want, but you are.
00:03:19:19 - 00:03:28:06
Luke Franchina
Well, you are. My favorite question to ask actually is is if you could. You had dinner with three women, they could be dead or alive. Who would they be?
00:03:28:08 - 00:03:28:28
Luke Franchina
Oh, I love that.
00:03:29:03 - 00:03:31:26
Luke Franchina
Because it's like gives you good insight into who they would like.
00:03:31:29 - 00:03:35:12
Kevin
Yeah, we should all answer this question. Oh, Brandon, you first.
00:03:35:12 - 00:03:37:01
Luke Franchina
Okay.
00:03:37:03 - 00:03:41:09
Brandon
I'm really bad at thinking on the spot. I'm really bad. Part of me wants to say, like.
00:03:41:11 - 00:03:42:07
Luke Franchina
I know.
00:03:42:09 - 00:03:43:13
Brandon
Like, period.
00:03:43:16 - 00:03:45:14
Luke Franchina
Think it's not much going on up here. I mean.
00:03:45:16 - 00:03:52:03
Brandon
The the first person that comes to mind is Whoopi Goldberg, just because I fucking love her. And I think it would be fun to, like, smoke a joint and hang out with her.
00:03:52:06 - 00:03:52:19
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
00:03:52:21 - 00:03:56:02
Kevin
I agree with that. Okay, there's one if three.
00:03:56:04 - 00:03:59:02
Brandon
I know. Let's. We'll go round robin. Okay?
00:03:59:04 - 00:04:03:02
Luke Franchina
Okay. Okay. Michelle Obama Oh, yeah.
00:04:03:04 - 00:04:04:14
Luke Franchina
Princess Diana.
00:04:04:16 - 00:04:07:28
Brandon
That was going to be my next What? I literally just I would love to know what happened.
00:04:08:01 - 00:04:08:22
Luke Franchina
You know, I just.
00:04:08:22 - 00:04:10:04
Luke Franchina
Wanted to talk to her and be like.
00:04:10:04 - 00:04:12:11
Luke Franchina
What's up, girl? I got.
00:04:12:11 - 00:04:13:14
Kevin
Princess Di.
00:04:13:16 - 00:04:14:22
Luke Franchina
Oh, okay.
00:04:14:22 - 00:04:15:25
Brandon
My brain's going.
00:04:15:28 - 00:04:17:27
Kevin
Like, you have to go next.
00:04:17:29 - 00:04:19:06
Luke Franchina
Women think women.
00:04:19:07 - 00:04:19:26
Kevin
History.
00:04:19:26 - 00:04:23:11
Brandon
History. Current Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
00:04:23:13 - 00:04:26:14
Luke Franchina
Oh, that's wonderful.
00:04:26:16 - 00:04:31:13
Kevin
I would just go, but I. Okay, um. Let me going. Okay. Viola Davis.
00:04:31:17 - 00:04:35:24
Luke Franchina
Mm. Oh, I love. I do, too.
00:04:35:27 - 00:04:38:09
Kevin
Yeah. So that would be second.
00:04:38:11 - 00:04:43:21
Luke Franchina
Um, Lady Gaga. Oh, yes, I know, I know.
00:04:43:21 - 00:04:45:21
Kevin
Oh, girl.
00:04:45:23 - 00:04:47:14
Luke Franchina
She's so. I don't know. I just love.
00:04:47:14 - 00:04:58:07
Luke Franchina
Her. Look, we'd be besties. You actually would be better, right? No. If you love me, love me, be my friend. Did you see the video of her?
00:04:58:09 - 00:05:05:11
Kevin
I think she was at the Globes. I don't know where she was. It was an award show, and there was, like, a camera guy that, like, fell in. She went to go, like, pick him up.
00:05:05:13 - 00:05:09:00
Luke Franchina
Everything. It was sweet.
00:05:09:02 - 00:05:11:02
Kevin
So sweet. Okay, cool. Yeah. Well, number three.
00:05:11:08 - 00:05:24:03
Brandon
Okay, so when I thought of my number three, I thought of three and four because I just thought of the movie we just watched with both of these humans. And I loved it. And I think it would be fun to be in the space with them. Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer.
00:05:24:04 - 00:05:25:02
Luke Franchina
Oh my God.
00:05:25:03 - 00:05:28:15
Brandon
Because we just rewatched that one where they're like superheroes, which isn't really cool.
00:05:28:19 - 00:05:30:18
Luke Franchina
So I guess we.
00:05:30:18 - 00:05:34:21
Brandon
Just rewatched it and I was just thinking like they would be fun to just like, be in a room.
00:05:34:21 - 00:05:35:15
Luke Franchina
With. Yeah.
00:05:35:18 - 00:05:44:22
Brandon
Because part of what I think about is Kevin being an actor in his acting career and like, who would be fun for him to act with that I could benefit from? Because, you know, it's about me, some.
00:05:44:23 - 00:05:46:28
Luke Franchina
Type of person that I'm like.
00:05:47:00 - 00:05:50:21
Brandon
Every time we're watching something, like, it'd be so cool if you could act with them.
00:05:50:23 - 00:05:51:06
Luke Franchina
I will.
00:05:51:08 - 00:05:51:24
Kevin
One day.
00:05:51:24 - 00:05:53:07
Luke Franchina
You will.
00:05:53:09 - 00:05:56:16
Kevin
I love that. Okay, so that was three and four. It's an do I have to do three and four?
00:05:56:19 - 00:05:59:18
Brandon
What we. The limit was three. I just. I just need extra credit.
00:05:59:18 - 00:06:02:25
Kevin
I'll do three and four as well. Jackie O.
00:06:02:27 - 00:06:04:08
Luke Franchina
Oh, okay.
00:06:04:11 - 00:06:06:04
Kevin
I want to talk to her as well.
00:06:06:07 - 00:06:09:22
Luke Franchina
Oh. Oh, sorry, Mike. I just. It's with my headphones.
00:06:09:24 - 00:06:15:08
Kevin
And then what would be number four, honestly would probably be Ellen Pompeo.
00:06:15:11 - 00:06:20:06
Brandon
Oh, I know who. But what about Shonda Rhimes too? Like on the other side of that world.
00:06:20:08 - 00:06:29:24
Kevin
I feel like anybody involved in Gray's Anatomy, like Katherine Heigl, I mean, I love to. Oh, yeah. Friends like, I just think she is badass and whatever. But yeah.
00:06:29:26 - 00:06:46:27
Luke Franchina
Wow. Um, at the name I was just, I just had my head put away, so. Yeah. So I'm going to have to think of a back up now because I'm like, um. Oh, uh, Anna Nicole Smith. Oh. Ooh. Yeah. I just want to know, like.
00:06:46:29 - 00:06:47:20
Luke Franchina
You know, if we.
00:06:47:20 - 00:06:48:28
Kevin
Should go out to the.
00:06:49:00 - 00:06:49:27
Brandon
Hardrock and.
00:06:49:29 - 00:06:53:00
Kevin
And do a little science in South Florida, I can like. Yeah.
00:06:53:02 - 00:06:54:00
Luke Franchina
Yeah, she probably would.
00:06:54:00 - 00:06:54:29
Luke Franchina
I know it would be like.
00:06:55:02 - 00:06:57:02
Brandon
Hi, can we book the room? And then Nicole Smith.
00:06:57:02 - 00:06:57:17
Kevin
Passed away.
00:06:57:17 - 00:07:04:16
Luke Franchina
And please, that could be a great, you know.
00:07:04:19 - 00:07:06:09
Kevin
Interesting little science.
00:07:06:16 - 00:07:07:28
Luke Franchina
Yeah. You know.
00:07:08:00 - 00:07:12:09
Luke Franchina
Like, don't mind the ghosts.
00:07:12:12 - 00:07:20:01
Kevin
Okay, So, Luke, tell us real quick, just a little bit about your life since you've become, you know, a little bit famous. So how's life now? Um.
00:07:20:04 - 00:07:24:24
Luke Franchina
It's my life is so different in certain ways. And the same in a bunch of other ways.
00:07:24:24 - 00:07:25:17
Luke Franchina
Yeah. Yeah.
00:07:25:19 - 00:07:38:00
Luke Franchina
Um, I don't know. I don't. It's ticktock is just such a weird world because it goes from, like, 0 to 100. Yeah, And you really never know what's going to take off. Yeah, it's always the ones that you think like.
00:07:38:02 - 00:07:39:09
Luke Franchina
Are.
00:07:39:11 - 00:07:43:01
Luke Franchina
You're like, Should I post this? You post it, and then it's like, it just blows up in your head.
00:07:43:01 - 00:07:50:05
Luke Franchina
What, what, what is wrong with you? And then I'm like, I should have said about myself too. Like, I love it when I.
00:07:50:05 - 00:07:57:09
Luke Franchina
Do video, but my life has been it's been good. It's been I mean, my life has changed drastically, especially in the past year.
00:07:57:09 - 00:07:58:06
Brandon
Yeah, Yeah.
00:07:58:08 - 00:08:14:09
Luke Franchina
But it's just been a good learning experience, you know? And I think the biggest thing for me is just trying to remain like it's like just be myself, not overthinking. Yeah, because that's the best part about that.
00:08:14:09 - 00:08:16:10
Kevin
It's so such human nature, right?
00:08:16:10 - 00:08:17:01
Brandon
Everything.
00:08:17:04 - 00:08:33:28
Kevin
Yeah, I do think that it's cool and I want to give you some accolades for the raw emotion that you've shown. And the reason that I do is because it's so relatable to people and it's the one thing that they hate. Yeah, Yeah. So I think that you doing that has probably inspired so many people.
00:08:33:28 - 00:08:50:00
Luke Franchina
Thank you. Right. You know, it's funny because the first I had a video recorded after me and my ex had broken up and I was like, Am I going to post this online? Because I was crying and I was like a like I was a mess. And I was like just basically pouring my heart out, giving my thoughts about what?
00:08:50:00 - 00:08:59:10
Luke Franchina
Like what just what was happening. And I was like, and I sat on it for like a few weeks and then I was like, you know, I'm not going to post it. Yeah, yeah, whatever. Because you know where I couldn't find anybody.
00:08:59:10 - 00:09:03:28
Luke Franchina
Online to relate to. But I was like, I don't know, but that's awesome that you've.
00:09:03:28 - 00:09:06:21
Brandon
Thought of that. And you were like, Let me do this and tell my story.
00:09:06:21 - 00:09:12:01
Kevin
Well, yeah, even for people who have like, known, we hadn't talked in a minute, but yeah, I text you.
00:09:12:03 - 00:09:12:13
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
00:09:12:13 - 00:09:34:23
Kevin
If you remember. Yeah. Yeah. When you did that because I was like that was first off, I didn't know you were kind of going through that, but also I was like, that was so raw and so relatable and I want to make sure you're okay. Yeah, obviously. But yeah, so that's kind of like this. I don't know the those moments of like, you have a lot of humor, but with humor also comes these real things.
00:09:34:23 - 00:09:36:08
Kevin
Yeah, I just think it's amazing that you did that.
00:09:36:12 - 00:09:38:00
Luke Franchina
Thank you. Thank you so.
00:09:38:02 - 00:09:39:22
Kevin
How did people react to that in general?
00:09:39:22 - 00:09:58:13
Luke Franchina
So good. Like, I like I just got goosebumps, actually, because I get the messages. Like I was like, Oh my God, I was looking for support for me. Yeah. And I got more than I could have ever dreamed of. Yeah, it's awesome. And it's like, oh, I mean, it just made me feel like, good, you know? I was like, I'm not alone.
00:09:58:15 - 00:10:01:02
Luke Franchina
I'm not alone here. Yeah, I love that.
00:10:01:05 - 00:10:05:01
Kevin
And then when you Okay, your first TikTok video that blew up, what did that feeling right.
00:10:05:01 - 00:10:06:03
Brandon
That was that was gonna be one of my.
00:10:06:03 - 00:10:06:27
Luke Franchina
Next that was.
00:10:06:27 - 00:10:15:20
Luke Franchina
So strange. So I was moving where me and my ex were moving from our house with one house to an apartment in downtown, you know, like Tampa.
00:10:15:22 - 00:10:17:01
Kevin
Which is the house that we went in because we went.
00:10:17:06 - 00:10:18:04
Luke Franchina
Yeah, exactly.
00:10:18:04 - 00:10:18:23
Kevin
That house.
00:10:18:25 - 00:10:39:07
Luke Franchina
So we were moving from there. We had movers like taking all the stuff. I was in my office with my dog. She's scared of the wind. So I had her in my office. She was shaking, I was sitting on the floor and I had a friend call me talking about her terrible boyfriend again. And I'm like, Girl, same song, dance, different day.
00:10:39:09 - 00:10:51:08
Luke Franchina
She says the same thing. Oh, my God, he's so mean. Just all this stuff. And I was like, I love you to death, but you need to dump his ass. And move on. And if you get back with him, don't call me like I'm over it. I love.
00:10:51:08 - 00:10:52:26
Luke Franchina
You. I love you.
00:10:53:01 - 00:11:04:26
Luke Franchina
Yeah. Yeah. And I was like, I don't want to. I can't do this anymore. I said, I'm exhausted. I can't even imagine how exhausted you are. Yeah, enough is enough. So if you do get back with them happy, I want you to be happy. But don't call me.
00:11:05:00 - 00:11:07:16
Luke Franchina
Look at me like. Like. Oh, no.
00:11:07:19 - 00:11:11:23
Luke Franchina
Don't worry about that. Like, we can do everything. So I don't wanna hear about it because you complaint like, seven time.
00:11:11:28 - 00:11:12:11
Luke Franchina
Yeah, because.
00:11:12:11 - 00:11:14:07
Kevin
You have it, you actually can control the situation.
00:11:14:07 - 00:11:15:19
Luke Franchina
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:11:15:22 - 00:11:19:06
Brandon
And it can get a little exhausting to be like, Girl, we've done this, we've talked about this.
00:11:19:06 - 00:11:20:18
Luke Franchina
You've been through the same thing.
00:11:20:18 - 00:11:35:28
Luke Franchina
Yeah, I'm like, Oh my God. So then after that, I got. I was just on TikTok. I was on the floor with my dog and I was like, If he's doing this dumb business, like he's doing this, dump this. And then I posted it and my we were like, Oh, we're done. I was like, okay. So get our stuff.
00:11:35:28 - 00:11:49:00
Luke Franchina
Go to my new place there. And they move all the boxes in the apartment, apartments full of stuff. I sit on the couch, it's probably like 8 hours later and I'm like, open up to talk. And like, I guess I'll scroll on TikTok and instead of unpacking.
00:11:49:08 - 00:11:50:16
Luke Franchina
And it.
00:11:50:16 - 00:11:52:22
Luke Franchina
Was like 20,000 followers, I.
00:11:52:22 - 00:11:55:16
Luke Franchina
Said, Wow, what's going on? I was like, I know. When I was.
00:11:55:16 - 00:11:58:13
Luke Franchina
Like, there was like a million views on this video. And I was like, Oh.
00:11:58:15 - 00:12:10:24
Luke Franchina
You're like, Oh, wanna a you like, I closed it and I'm like, I don't really comment. Sort of like, Oh God, close it. And then I was like, This is crazy. And you're like, What's happening?
00:12:10:24 - 00:12:21:25
Luke Franchina
Yeah. So then I'm like, I was so tired of like, I'm going to just go to bed and I don't know what's happening. I'll deal with this in the morning. And I woke up, but I had like, like 50,000 followers and I was like, Oh my God.
00:12:21:25 - 00:12:23:28
Luke Franchina
From one video. Yeah, that's insane.
00:12:24:01 - 00:12:30:13
Luke Franchina
And like, that's what like, started. And so I was like, Oh my gosh. So then it just kind of I just started building it out from there.
00:12:30:20 - 00:12:34:03
Brandon
So how did it feel when you saw Selena Gomez in tears?
00:12:34:04 - 00:12:38:15
Luke Franchina
Oh, my God, That sound? Yeah. Oh, no. My best team.
00:12:38:18 - 00:12:49:15
Luke Franchina
Yeah, they I woke up and that day and I had, like, texts, sex, sex, sex and messages, and, I mean, I don't get, like, I don't wake up to, like, hundreds.
00:12:49:19 - 00:12:51:05
Luke Franchina
Yeah, right.
00:12:51:08 - 00:12:52:19
Luke Franchina
And so I was like, What the hell was that?
00:12:52:19 - 00:12:54:28
Luke Franchina
Like, who died? Literally what?
00:12:54:28 - 00:12:56:16
Luke Franchina
I was like, Oh, my God.
00:12:56:19 - 00:12:57:04
Luke Franchina
Like, And then.
00:12:57:04 - 00:13:00:06
Luke Franchina
I'm like, Why is like a random person that I haven't talked to, like, for years texted.
00:13:00:06 - 00:13:01:26
Luke Franchina
Me like I was like.
00:13:01:29 - 00:13:19:18
Luke Franchina
Who? They didn't know that would die anyways. So then I'm looking in, it's like news, like I'm getting this like, like a link to inus, like talking about how Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift use the sound before they went on SNL. And it was like my sound. And I was like, What? And then I go on my TikTok and people are blowing like Taylor Swift cleaning.
00:13:19:18 - 00:13:23:06
Luke Franchina
It was, you know, I was like, Oh, good.
00:13:23:08 - 00:13:35:06
Luke Franchina
And that one that like, I had like at that point I had like probably a little over a million followers and I gained over a span of like a month, like a half million followers.
00:13:35:07 - 00:13:36:09
Luke Franchina
Easily.
00:13:36:11 - 00:13:37:23
Luke Franchina
From that. And that is so insane.
00:13:37:23 - 00:13:39:02
Kevin
I mean, that doesn't surprise me.
00:13:39:03 - 00:13:39:24
Brandon
It doesn't They're.
00:13:39:24 - 00:13:41:06
Kevin
Just they're following alone.
00:13:41:06 - 00:13:42:01
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
00:13:42:03 - 00:13:42:10
Kevin
Yeah.
00:13:42:11 - 00:14:04:07
Luke Franchina
And it was like and that's kind of what pivoted. I mean, that pivoted, but like I because I always said best content. Yeah, but like that, like that was like, oh, okay. Like this is actually a part of me too. Like, I think like, you know, being kind of like an online and that's honestly been, that was like when I was thinking I was like, oh my God, I want to be basi people that feel like they don't have a bestie.
00:14:04:07 - 00:14:04:27
Luke Franchina
I like.
00:14:05:01 - 00:14:06:19
Brandon
I love that phrase online. Bestie.
00:14:06:20 - 00:14:07:16
Luke Franchina
Yeah, I do too.
00:14:07:16 - 00:14:19:11
Kevin
I think that there, you know, especially in the way that the internet's gone and certainly relationships online. Yeah, you have a huge impact on people beyond what you people probably even now which is which is incredible, you know.
00:14:19:11 - 00:14:29:00
Brandon
And it's and it's fun being on like this side of it for us when we're like will be randomly talking to people and someone will be like, Hey, have you seen this guy on TikTok? And we're like.
00:14:29:03 - 00:14:33:07
Luke Franchina
Yes, we have that society. There's even just like this guy that.
00:14:33:07 - 00:14:41:05
Kevin
I really used to be my really good friend in high school, and he was in our wedding and everything and it's not a good human. He tried to break us up, but oh yeah.
00:14:41:08 - 00:14:58:14
Brandon
Same man was in our wedding party and after our wedding went to everybody that was at the bar that they went to afterwards and told them that we never should have gotten married and that we wouldn't last and all of this other stuff. So, Tommy, if you hear this, go fuck yourself. It's 12 years later. I don't care.
00:14:58:14 - 00:15:01:22
Brandon
I'll call a bitch out. He's a piece of shit. I don't care.
00:15:01:22 - 00:15:05:19
Luke Franchina
Oh, God. Yeah. I will get aggressive. Oh, his.
00:15:05:19 - 00:15:10:20
Brandon
Name is Tommy. I won't say his last name. You can figure that out. It's a very popular name. It is a.
00:15:10:20 - 00:15:13:00
Luke Franchina
Very. It is. And anyway, you see, he's.
00:15:13:05 - 00:15:32:04
Kevin
Super shitty, but he shared one of your videos and did like a like your sound and video. I can't remember exactly what it was, but and then like, said something in line with like he wanted to be to me and I was like, Oh Lord.
00:15:32:06 - 00:15:32:24
Luke Franchina
And it had.
00:15:32:24 - 00:15:38:01
Brandon
Like just popped up on Kevin's TikTok. So we're like, This is weird. It's like our two different lives as far as, like.
00:15:38:01 - 00:15:41:05
Luke Franchina
Combining on TikTok, like.
00:15:41:05 - 00:15:42:12
Brandon
This is very strange.
00:15:42:17 - 00:15:44:13
Kevin
But even our niece, who you met.
00:15:44:16 - 00:15:44:22
Luke Franchina
At the.
00:15:44:22 - 00:15:49:06
Kevin
Bar the other night. Yeah, yeah, she was like, I love this guy. And I'm like, We know.
00:15:49:06 - 00:15:53:18
Luke Franchina
Him. It's like, what's? And I'm like, Yes, it's just funny.
00:15:53:19 - 00:16:01:07
Brandon
I'm like, Yeah, I remember the day that I met you and we were leaving wherever we were, and I saw your. Bye, Felicia Oh, yeah.
00:16:01:09 - 00:16:02:20
Luke Franchina
My license. Yeah.
00:16:02:22 - 00:16:05:27
Brandon
And I was like, Oh, I like him.
00:16:05:29 - 00:16:08:19
Kevin
I think I remember you telling you. Yeah, You were like, There's this really cool guy.
00:16:08:19 - 00:16:09:29
Luke Franchina
Luke and Luke.
00:16:10:02 - 00:16:12:17
Kevin
The name Luke was my my ex was named Luke.
00:16:12:20 - 00:16:16:17
Luke Franchina
And I was like, But I hate him. And. And then I met you.
00:16:16:17 - 00:16:17:27
Kevin
And I was like, Oh, he changed.
00:16:17:27 - 00:16:21:15
Luke Franchina
That narrative's gone, which was.
00:16:21:15 - 00:16:30:02
Kevin
Awesome. So I love that. Oh, I love that. And I love that you're here. So obviously Word True Crime Podcast. So what do you feel about murder?
00:16:30:05 - 00:16:42:16
Luke Franchina
Obviously, I love it. It's, it's you know, like what do I do? Like, how do I answer this? It's terrible.
00:16:42:18 - 00:16:45:12
Luke Franchina
It's something I would not suggest people to do.
00:16:45:12 - 00:16:47:12
Luke Franchina
Yeah, I completely.
00:16:47:12 - 00:16:47:17
Kevin
Agree.
00:16:47:17 - 00:16:51:19
Brandon
And yeah, and I would assume all of us would like to not get murdered.
00:16:51:21 - 00:17:02:05
Kevin
No. So I didn't. I guess I should have framed that question. Probably. And do you like true crime as a form of entertainment, like stories on Dateline or.
00:17:02:08 - 00:17:05:01
Luke Franchina
Yes, I mean, like I was snapped.
00:17:05:03 - 00:17:06:09
Luke Franchina
Oh, yeah, that's a good one.
00:17:06:11 - 00:17:14:01
Luke Franchina
Yeah, I know. It's because it's like. Because I not saying anyone ever deserves it.
00:17:14:04 - 00:17:23:10
Luke Franchina
But I don't know. I don't know. Sometimes you get that like we were like, I get it where you're like. You're like where you're like, Yeah, maybe.
00:17:23:10 - 00:17:24:04
Brandon
They did.
00:17:24:07 - 00:17:24:12
Luke Franchina
This.
00:17:24:16 - 00:17:27:10
Brandon
They should not be around to hurt other people.
00:17:27:11 - 00:17:34:04
Luke Franchina
That's exactly what I'm. I'm like, No, I don't like, I don't I'm not trying to say like murder is okay, but also.
00:17:34:06 - 00:17:39:06
Luke Franchina
Yeah, I'm not upset. Yes. Like, I know like, like.
00:17:39:06 - 00:17:42:01
Brandon
Today I'm not upset that this person.
00:17:42:02 - 00:17:43:04
Luke Franchina
Was not.
00:17:43:06 - 00:17:46:23
Kevin
The same with mine. Mm hmm. Yeah. Yeah. If you spend your life abusing people.
00:17:46:26 - 00:17:48:11
Luke Franchina
Yeah. Like those people.
00:17:48:13 - 00:17:48:27
Luke Franchina
Yeah. Yeah.
00:17:49:00 - 00:17:50:19
Luke Franchina
I'm not going to shed a tear over that. I know.
00:17:50:19 - 00:17:59:25
Kevin
Like, you're kind of asking for that, though. Yeah, Yeah. We always like to say that murder is not funny, but we are. So you don't talk about it and you're the funniest. And so.
00:17:59:29 - 00:18:04:10
Brandon
Yeah, in today's episode, we really wanted to geared towards Luke's kind of Yeah.
00:18:04:13 - 00:18:05:19
Luke Franchina
Jam something.
00:18:05:22 - 00:18:09:08
Brandon
So what did we even say? We didn't even say the name of the episode.
00:18:09:08 - 00:18:11:08
Kevin
To have Luke three two because.
00:18:11:08 - 00:18:12:04
Luke Franchina
I only got him from beginning to.
00:18:12:05 - 00:18:18:11
Kevin
Funny. So right at the top that says episode, I think. 13. So tell us the name.
00:18:18:13 - 00:18:22:08
Luke Franchina
Avoid murder just don't possess.
00:18:22:10 - 00:18:27:02
Luke Franchina
Yes. Oh, right. So that's the name of the I didn't love it. Yeah. So. Yeah. So.
00:18:27:04 - 00:18:29:07
Brandon
Kevin, it's your turn to go first this week.
00:18:29:07 - 00:18:43:23
Kevin
I'm going to read my story and then Brandon will go and we'll just kind of all talk about it and react. And mine's not as intense, but I do want to share it because this this particular woman is actually still in prison, so it shouldn't be so I want to oh.
00:18:43:26 - 00:18:54:03
Brandon
I mean, I think with stories about women killing their abusers, I feel like it's hard for me to think that they should be in prison. I agree to a degree. Yeah.
00:18:54:05 - 00:19:05:14
Kevin
So. Yeah. So. All right, well, let's dive right in. Let's do it. Here we go. Okay, So, friends, my episode, Um, I didn't titled this week.
00:19:05:17 - 00:19:07:01
Brandon
Okay, that's a big thing for.
00:19:07:01 - 00:19:07:16
Kevin
Kevin.
00:19:07:19 - 00:19:10:15
Brandon
That he titles them. You know.
00:19:10:18 - 00:19:11:21
Luke Franchina
Like, that's like.
00:19:11:21 - 00:19:12:10
Brandon
You're.
00:19:12:13 - 00:19:13:06
Luke Franchina
Like your bread and butter.
00:19:13:06 - 00:19:13:14
Luke Franchina
It's like my.
00:19:13:15 - 00:19:18:28
Brandon
Yeah, what you're known for on this podcast. Great. So I'm like, kind of excited that mine's.
00:19:19:00 - 00:19:22:03
Luke Franchina
Like you, whether you win for once.
00:19:22:06 - 00:19:25:17
Brandon
Once in 13 episodes.
00:19:25:19 - 00:19:28:25
Kevin
It's the first time I have not named it, but that's okay. Maybe we.
00:19:28:25 - 00:19:29:10
Luke Franchina
Can come up with.
00:19:29:10 - 00:19:30:24
Luke Franchina
One. Yeah. Oh.
00:19:30:26 - 00:19:39:29
Kevin
Okay. So let me give you the, like, the premise. Um, a woman is abused, woman is murdered. Woman is 80 years old. When she.
00:19:40:02 - 00:19:41:16
Brandon
Woman was murdered.
00:19:41:18 - 00:19:42:08
Luke Franchina
I'm like.
00:19:42:11 - 00:19:44:11
Luke Franchina
Oh, okay.
00:19:44:14 - 00:19:45:10
Kevin
Reverse, reverse.
00:19:45:10 - 00:19:46:12
Luke Franchina
Okay.
00:19:46:14 - 00:19:47:11
Brandon
This is bad premise.
00:19:47:17 - 00:19:51:13
Luke Franchina
I know what I'm saying. But the premise come out like.
00:19:51:18 - 00:19:52:07
Luke Franchina
I don't like this.
00:19:52:07 - 00:19:54:25
Luke Franchina
Abuse and the murder. I know. Full stop.
00:19:54:25 - 00:20:00:26
Brandon
How about so I know the premise a little bit. How about it's never too old to kill your abuser?
00:20:00:28 - 00:20:01:15
Kevin
It's never.
00:20:01:15 - 00:20:03:28
Brandon
Too late. It's never. You are never too old.
00:20:04:01 - 00:20:20:01
Kevin
To kill your bizarre. You're never too old to kill your abuser. I just didn't say that. Right. To kill your abuser. Okay. But premise real quick. Woman has abused all her life. She's 80. She kills her abuser, and now she's in prison and kind of sitting there. So what would you say at age?
00:20:20:06 - 00:20:20:25
Luke Franchina
Oh.
00:20:20:27 - 00:20:22:09
Kevin
That was good. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:20:22:11 - 00:20:29:24
Luke Franchina
And, um. Oh, my God. I see that. I don't know why I suggested this, because I'm really bad at coming up with titles on the spot.
00:20:29:27 - 00:20:30:26
Brandon
I know, right?
00:20:30:28 - 00:20:43:12
Kevin
You know, it came to my mind was 80, 80, flirty and thriving. But she's not because she's that person, so I know it's this poor woman. Anyway.
00:20:43:12 - 00:20:44:28
Luke Franchina
Okay, 80.
00:20:45:01 - 00:20:47:26
Luke Franchina
Two. Okay, We're going to get to how she can.
00:20:47:28 - 00:20:48:12
Luke Franchina
Maybe let's do.
00:20:48:12 - 00:20:50:23
Luke Franchina
It after how after her? Because I know I'll give you.
00:20:50:23 - 00:20:51:06
Kevin
It's a pew.
00:20:51:06 - 00:20:56:23
Luke Franchina
Pew pew. Yeah, that's okay. Okay. Okay.
00:20:56:25 - 00:21:07:04
Luke Franchina
I was like, I first collect like we just randomly do, like, a few good things. I was like, good. Is that, like, are you okay? I am probably going to be pissed cause I did a pew.
00:21:07:04 - 00:21:09:04
Kevin
Pew instead of, like, holding an actual, you know, like.
00:21:09:06 - 00:21:09:27
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
00:21:09:29 - 00:21:11:26
Brandon
Just literally, you hold it down like this.
00:21:11:28 - 00:21:14:18
Luke Franchina
I don't. I know. I don't like.
00:21:14:20 - 00:21:15:00
Luke Franchina
I don't.
00:21:15:00 - 00:21:19:28
Luke Franchina
Know. I don't, I don't even know. I like. It's like. I don't.
00:21:19:28 - 00:21:28:03
Luke Franchina
Know. I don't know maybe. What is it? Two fingers on the trigger. Two. No, know, I think the whole is not okay.
00:21:28:05 - 00:21:29:25
Luke Franchina
We need to fit in the whole. Yeah.
00:21:29:28 - 00:21:35:18
Brandon
All of the Trump loving Republicans that are listening to us right now are like, are these hormones or even know how to.
00:21:35:23 - 00:21:38:17
Luke Franchina
You know, I'm not listening. I know.
00:21:38:19 - 00:21:44:10
Luke Franchina
I know. Also, like, I hope they know that. So when I'm like for like we don't want him to after like.
00:21:44:13 - 00:22:03:28
Luke Franchina
They look at me and I'm like, oh, would you please stay home? Please just talk like you're going to. Or that's just like a fucking army of queer people. And they're just be like, Oh my God, they're going to like three very sobering in world.
00:22:03:28 - 00:22:04:27
Brandon
Like finger snapping.
00:22:04:27 - 00:22:11:10
Luke Franchina
Down to them, like West Side Story with the Charlie's Angels.
00:22:11:10 - 00:22:12:22
Kevin
Poses once we get.
00:22:12:24 - 00:22:17:15
Luke Franchina
Is. So yeah, my Lord.
00:22:17:16 - 00:22:23:15
Kevin
Okay, wait. I do have a question for you because we went to the doctor recently, okay? We had to swab our own anus.
00:22:23:22 - 00:22:26:16
Luke Franchina
Oh, my God, I did.
00:22:26:18 - 00:22:27:13
Luke Franchina
Is this new?
00:22:27:15 - 00:22:35:06
Luke Franchina
I don't. Okay. Yes. For me, I was like, because it was a giant.
00:22:35:06 - 00:22:37:21
Luke Franchina
Just you too. Cute, cute.
00:22:37:23 - 00:22:38:11
Luke Franchina
Cute. I said.
00:22:38:11 - 00:22:43:09
Luke Franchina
Q-Tip, you like. It's okay. I mean, technically.
00:22:43:11 - 00:22:49:06
Luke Franchina
And I was like, okay, So like, is it like, how far do I put it like this?
00:22:49:13 - 00:22:50:00
Luke Franchina
And like.
00:22:50:03 - 00:22:54:04
Luke Franchina
And then it had like a thing where it's like, it'll break, like you break it off in this thing, right?
00:22:54:06 - 00:22:54:22
Brandon
And if you actually.
00:22:54:22 - 00:22:56:02
Luke Franchina
Sit there the whole.
00:22:56:02 - 00:23:00:21
Luke Franchina
Time, I'm like, sticking my bottom like, Oh my God, it's going to break off into my ass and.
00:23:00:21 - 00:23:15:25
Luke Franchina
Then I'm going to have to like, push it out or be like, could somebody help get it out of my head? Well, maybe it's like, I'll get it out of my house. Or I felt to the inside, you know, it was like I was, like, panicking the whole time. But yes. Yeah. You know.
00:23:15:27 - 00:23:16:28
Kevin
It was interesting.
00:23:16:28 - 00:23:18:12
Luke Franchina
Because I didn't have to do it again.
00:23:18:12 - 00:23:21:08
Kevin
But that's good. Yeah. I mean, I was negative.
00:23:21:08 - 00:23:23:03
Luke Franchina
I do it every three months.
00:23:23:05 - 00:23:25:01
Kevin
Every three months.
00:23:25:03 - 00:23:27:07
Luke Franchina
For my because I well, I get a panel done.
00:23:27:07 - 00:23:27:22
Brandon
Every week. Yeah.
00:23:27:28 - 00:23:34:10
Kevin
Oh it's probably really smart. It's super smart. I hadn't gotten anything done in seven years, but I'm also married. Yeah.
00:23:34:11 - 00:23:38:24
Luke Franchina
Seeing like anything the same morning. So.
00:23:38:27 - 00:23:41:14
Kevin
But that kind of fun explore again.
00:23:41:14 - 00:23:41:29
Luke Franchina
Oh, yeah.
00:23:42:04 - 00:23:46:22
Luke Franchina
I yeah, that's right.
00:23:46:27 - 00:23:50:17
Brandon
And I know that you're, like, delving into it on your TikTok as well a little bit.
00:23:50:17 - 00:23:51:28
Luke Franchina
And I know.
00:23:51:28 - 00:23:54:03
Brandon
It every time. Like having her like, Oh my God.
00:23:54:05 - 00:23:55:02
Luke Franchina
I know another.
00:23:55:02 - 00:24:01:25
Kevin
Husband. If you get to see, oh, the one that you were when you just got your hair done and you were you chose to stay at home instead said.
00:24:01:26 - 00:24:03:13
Luke Franchina
Of getting real.
00:24:03:16 - 00:24:04:04
Kevin
And I was like.
00:24:04:04 - 00:24:11:25
Luke Franchina
Oh, I still regret that. I very much. I still regret that. But he lives in New York. Oh, I guess he's going to New York.
00:24:11:27 - 00:24:14:00
Luke Franchina
I'm asleep.
00:24:14:02 - 00:24:15:02
Kevin
Let me know how that goes.
00:24:15:03 - 00:24:16:08
Luke Franchina
Right? I will. I will.
00:24:16:08 - 00:24:17:21
Brandon
We'll have a recap episode.
00:24:17:24 - 00:24:19:00
Luke Franchina
Oh, yeah.
00:24:19:03 - 00:24:19:12
Luke Franchina
If you have.
00:24:19:14 - 00:24:22:09
Kevin
Any, that is. And if you're not there need a place to stay. One of them are going to stay at our apartment.
00:24:22:10 - 00:24:23:03
Luke Franchina
Oh, by the way.
00:24:23:05 - 00:24:45:11
Kevin
Yeah. Oh, well, the neighbor was like, Yeah, fabulous is. Okay. Are we ready? Yeah. And we just dove into. Well, there was only, like, a minute. Okay, so title pending, you guys. This is actually more of a recent thing. So it was August 20th of 2020, which we all remember. 2020. It's just like five months into the goddamn pandemic.
00:24:45:14 - 00:24:49:23
Brandon
Where a lot of abuse started to happen to women in general.
00:24:49:28 - 00:24:51:12
Luke Franchina
Yeah, more.
00:24:51:14 - 00:25:00:20
Kevin
And this so August 20th, 2020, and the call comes into the police station in McCook, Nebraska. Whatever guy's been in Nebraska.
00:25:00:26 - 00:25:03:25
Brandon
Yeah, I mean, driven through it and it's really all you. I feel.
00:25:03:25 - 00:25:04:28
Luke Franchina
Like you're going around it, you.
00:25:04:28 - 00:25:09:09
Kevin
Know? Good. Nebraska is an interesting state, but I grew up in Colorado.
00:25:09:12 - 00:25:09:29
Luke Franchina
You know. Okay.
00:25:10:02 - 00:25:30:28
Kevin
But anyway, on the phone was a 79 year old woman calling in to report a disturbance that needed police attention. So when the police arrived at eight or seven East Third Street in McCook, they discovered a 79 year old woman sitting in her chair in the living room and deceased 78 year old man lying in bed with a gunshot wound to his chest.
00:25:31:00 - 00:25:56:16
Kevin
So this is the story of love. Edda Langdon, a kind and gentle mother of four who experienced over 30 years of abuse at the hands of her husband. So it's pretty interesting. Now, I could not find like a ton of information. And it's interesting, too, because, like these these bigger murders that get featured on on television shows and all that kind of stuff, typically or older ones will have a lot more juice.
00:25:56:18 - 00:26:01:21
Kevin
This one, there's a lot of like statements from her kids, which I think was really compelling. Well, that's.
00:26:01:21 - 00:26:02:20
Brandon
Kind of interesting to hear.
00:26:02:20 - 00:26:18:18
Kevin
Too. Yeah. So instead of starting with like the juice, I want to start with the murder because it's actually kind of simple. Yeah, in general. But so on August 20th of 2020, Larry his name's Larry. Larry And Lovato had an argument about money and Larry struck Lovato in the face.
00:26:18:25 - 00:26:19:25
Luke Franchina
Oh, my God.
00:26:19:27 - 00:26:24:27
Kevin
So Lovato had previously warned Larry that if he hit her again, she'd kill him.
00:26:24:29 - 00:26:25:28
Luke Franchina
So well.
00:26:26:04 - 00:26:36:04
Kevin
After Larry hit her, she considered murdering him for 30 minutes. And then he went to bed and she went and grabbed a gun that he literally had just taught her to use three days.
00:26:36:04 - 00:26:37:10
Luke Franchina
Before.
00:26:37:12 - 00:26:40:21
Kevin
And walked into the room where he was sleeping and shot him twice in the chest.
00:26:40:27 - 00:26:44:01
Luke Franchina
Mm hmm. So I got it right.
00:26:44:04 - 00:26:52:01
Kevin
She then walked into another room, sat in a chair and called the police, and the murder was actually all captured on the home security video. Oh, I think is interesting.
00:26:52:05 - 00:26:53:19
Luke Franchina
Oh, yeah. So.
00:26:53:22 - 00:26:57:08
Kevin
Uh, Lovato was taken into custody without incident same day.
00:26:57:15 - 00:27:01:13
Brandon
Yeah, well, I mean, if she's calling in and she's owning up to it, I mean, what else are they going to do?
00:27:01:13 - 00:27:06:06
Luke Franchina
I just got goose bumps because it's like he he spent 30 years.
00:27:06:13 - 00:27:06:20
Brandon
It was.
00:27:06:20 - 00:27:10:16
Kevin
Actually technically. So there were reports that said 30 and 50.
00:27:10:18 - 00:27:11:20
Luke Franchina
Well, with her.
00:27:11:20 - 00:27:12:18
Luke Franchina
Aides, I mean, yeah.
00:27:12:25 - 00:27:31:27
Kevin
Married in 1960. So yeah. Yeah. 50 years technically of of abuse in the abuse it doesn't go stuff didn't go too too into it. But I do want to share some of the stuff that her daughters are saying and this is an important case because it is active right now. Yeah. Which will explain a little bit too. So also spreading a little bit of awareness for this about her.
00:27:31:29 - 00:27:55:02
Kevin
She had four daughters named Lynne Kenny, Laura Walter, Linda Carlson and Leon Rumson. So that day they were all notified of their father's death and these are the things that they said. So Lynne Kenny is quoted as saying, At first I was in shock. I honestly thought it would be the other way around with the detectives telling me my mom was gone and it was at the hand of my father.
00:27:55:05 - 00:28:03:21
Brandon
And then, I mean, that's that's I mean that to me, that's really powerful in the sense that the kids obviously have seen a lot that happened.
00:28:03:21 - 00:28:04:16
Kevin
In the last.
00:28:04:18 - 00:28:05:29
Brandon
50 plus years.
00:28:06:01 - 00:28:15:25
Kevin
And then she also said that her mom did her best coping and dealing with abuse and that her dad controlled everything and he used his kids as pawns.
00:28:15:27 - 00:28:16:06
Brandon
Because.
00:28:16:08 - 00:28:35:06
Kevin
Them. So then another daughter, Laura Walter, was quoted as saying when the incident occurred, Mom took control of the situation and shot him. I remember being relieved and then worried. What if he wasn't dead? What he what could he do to her kind of thing? And then she said, My father controlled every part of her life, including her finances.
00:28:35:06 - 00:28:53:11
Kevin
She never went shopping or to the doctor by herself. She never had the opportunity to get help because he was always with her. So she said there were times law enforcement got involved. And she recalls, When I was younger, my older sister called the police and they did come. My father met them outside and I saw them talking and laughing after they left.
00:28:53:14 - 00:29:05:13
Kevin
And of course, they started beating my sister. I tried to stop it. He started beating her. I mean, she says, when you see that, you learn what makes him angry and you learn not to upset him.
00:29:05:20 - 00:29:24:27
Brandon
You see, that's bullshit. And I feel like this is something that we've talked about on the podcast before where when cops do stuff like that, they're dismissing everything that's happening. So if you're going if you're being called to an abuser house or alleged abuse going talking to the person who is the issue.
00:29:24:27 - 00:29:26:07
Luke Franchina
Is the abuse, joking, laughing.
00:29:26:07 - 00:29:39:15
Brandon
With them, seeing them as another man, all you're seeing is the man. And I'm sure he was probably talking to them and saying that he was keeping everybody in order in this kind of bullshit. And they're like, It's embarrassing. They're all like, Oh, well, feature women, boys club. Yeah. And these are.
00:29:39:18 - 00:29:57:20
Kevin
GROSS Her daughters are older. I mean, she's 18. So yeah. And actually at this point, what, 83 probably. And so they're all probably in their forties and fifties. So they grew up before. And at that time, no, I mean, it was a man's man in a world. And so these cops, they didn't go inside, They did nothing.
00:29:57:22 - 00:29:58:29
Brandon
So did they even talk to.
00:29:58:29 - 00:30:17:28
Kevin
Any of them or just have none of the kids? Not 1 to 1. So they're another daughter. Linda Carlson is quoted as saying, We had to be perfect in every way. It was awful. I still have nightmares. My dad beat my mom for reasons like me playing basketball badly. I would get it. My sisters would get it. It was a never ending story with them.
00:30:18:03 - 00:30:30:11
Kevin
And then she said, My dad threatened to kill my mom many times. One of those times he told her that she had 5 minutes to get all of our stuff or he would kill her. She came to my place and I talked to my sister in Atlanta to send her there. I thought she was going to be safe.
00:30:30:11 - 00:30:50:06
Kevin
Somehow he found out where she was and got her back. Now, here we are. So interesting stuff. So a little bit of like history. So I wanted to say the murder first and a couple of that kind of things because again, there's not like a ton of juice in general that's shared. But there is one thing that I was like, Wow, And that was the abuse.
00:30:50:06 - 00:31:07:00
Kevin
So his name was Larry Langdon. Her name is Love Letter. So in one situation of abuse that LaVette had shared, which was supported by her daughters, was that the better said Larry forced her to undress and eat dog food in front of their four daughters.
00:31:07:03 - 00:31:08:03
Luke Franchina
What the actual.
00:31:08:07 - 00:31:16:01
Kevin
Fuck? Right? I'm like, hmm. So they actually had been undergoing torture. Yeah, it's just so fucking awful.
00:31:16:01 - 00:31:18:13
Luke Franchina
Well, this is like, I know what.
00:31:18:14 - 00:31:33:21
Luke Franchina
This makes me sound like. I'm. I'm actually very angry because, like, she. You know what the saddest part about this in my mind is? And she's in prison right now, and this is probably the most peace she's had in a very long time.
00:31:33:22 - 00:31:35:02
Brandon
One Oh, absolutely.
00:31:35:02 - 00:31:36:13
Luke Franchina
And it's like but she's in prison.
00:31:36:14 - 00:31:38:00
Kevin
Yeah, it's like she's in prison. And the most.
00:31:38:00 - 00:31:41:16
Luke Franchina
Like peace she's ever like. And that makes me, like, sad, you know?
00:31:41:18 - 00:31:56:14
Kevin
Well, and it's this is why there was also that case. I can't remember the woman's name, but she had accused she killed her abuser when she was 16. And she's still serving right now. And he was actively abusing her when she killed him. Yeah. So it's like there's this one.
00:31:56:15 - 00:32:16:19
Brandon
It's hard because when you are in a relationship and you're being abused, the abuser tries to do as much as they can to belittle you and make you feel like shit, to make you feel like you can't go anywhere. But then just those little things here and there that makes you feel really good that you're like, Oh, he'll get better, Oh, he'll do better.
00:32:16:19 - 00:32:37:28
Brandon
Oh, it's okay. Yeah, it's okay that he just made me eat this because he just did this one nice thing for me. Yeah. And they make you feel like you can't leave and that you have to stay in this cycle. Yeah. And it's sad for her that she didn't. Wasn't able to break free from that before and break free from it in a place where she didn't have to do anything like murder.
00:32:37:28 - 00:32:41:25
Brandon
But again, it's where that line of. But he kind of fucking deserves it.
00:32:41:25 - 00:32:46:08
Luke Franchina
He 100% he deserves it. He deserves it. Okay. Like kind of.
00:32:46:10 - 00:32:46:27
Brandon
Fuck you, Larry.
00:32:47:04 - 00:32:49:25
Luke Franchina
I know right now I'm like, everywhere I go.
00:32:49:27 - 00:32:50:09
Kevin
Fuck you.
00:32:50:09 - 00:32:51:19
Luke Franchina
Layers.
00:32:51:22 - 00:32:55:24
Luke Franchina
You know why I don't like Larry's? And we're sorry, Larry. I'm not sorry, though, but.
00:32:55:24 - 00:32:56:07
Kevin
If your name is.
00:32:56:07 - 00:33:03:07
Luke Franchina
Larry. Yeah, good. Yeah, If you're allowed out here, Larry, you got to get the little things like, Yeah, Larry.
00:33:03:09 - 00:33:05:01
Luke Franchina
That's okay if you're. Larry.
00:33:05:05 - 00:33:07:05
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
00:33:07:08 - 00:33:10:00
Luke Franchina
No, but seriously, fuck you. I'm like, that thing.
00:33:10:02 - 00:33:10:26
Luke Franchina
And it's sad too.
00:33:10:26 - 00:33:20:14
Luke Franchina
Because women have always had to deal with men and and take the take the brunt for men's poor.
00:33:20:14 - 00:33:21:23
Luke Franchina
Actions. Yeah.
00:33:21:25 - 00:33:36:03
Luke Franchina
And this is just another example of that. Yeah. She had to endure all of this. She got out She was that. I mean, that's in my mind the only way that it would stop I feel like at that point is him being dead.
00:33:36:09 - 00:33:37:23
Luke Franchina
Yeah. So like. Oh absolutely.
00:33:37:25 - 00:33:40:26
Luke Franchina
Like, what else is she supposed to do? I don't understand. Yeah.
00:33:40:26 - 00:33:50:28
Kevin
And she endured it for that long, and she's, I mean, technically 80. I mean, yet you can live significantly longer than that, but that's end of life, you know.
00:33:51:01 - 00:33:58:06
Luke Franchina
And you know, you know, people people will be like, well, she could have gone the police. Yeah, well look how that happened. She that happened before I went. Yeah right.
00:33:58:06 - 00:33:59:20
Luke Franchina
Yeah she, yeah, yeah.
00:33:59:20 - 00:34:24:01
Kevin
Yes. And that's it. Okay, so here's the thing. So kind of back to the abuse and I'll jump to that too. But so mom and kids were had beatings regularly, so all four of her girls and her the kids remember the sound of the belt and her mom screaming so traumatized. I know they said that their mom would hide bruises, but eventually she'd go to work on black eyes and chunks of hair missing.
00:34:24:07 - 00:34:25:15
Kevin
Oh, my gosh. Yeah.
00:34:25:20 - 00:34:27:09
Luke Franchina
This is really like, I know.
00:34:27:12 - 00:34:29:04
Luke Franchina
Like, that's a lot to, like.
00:34:29:06 - 00:34:32:16
Brandon
Rip someone's hair out. And that's a that's a lot of force.
00:34:32:21 - 00:34:37:11
Luke Franchina
Like like a person like that doesn't need to be alive. No, no, like, like a grid.
00:34:37:12 - 00:34:54:04
Kevin
Yeah. So the girls would hear him at, like, beating the set of their. But they were so afraid of him that they couldn't do anything. So he also threatened to kill the body in front of the girls. They remember being scared all the time and then they're saying that their dad already gave her a life sentence with the abuse.
00:34:54:10 - 00:34:55:07
Brandon
100%.
00:34:55:09 - 00:34:58:04
Kevin
Yeah. And if you hear hammering in the background, there's something going on outside.
00:34:58:04 - 00:35:01:01
Brandon
Yeah, that's really annoying. I was. I've been like, trying to be like, What the fuck?
00:35:01:01 - 00:35:02:20
Kevin
You know, I thought it was a dog barking at first.
00:35:02:20 - 00:35:04:23
Luke Franchina
I did know who's.
00:35:04:23 - 00:35:06:09
Luke Franchina
Hammering it in the back of your building.
00:35:06:09 - 00:35:09:07
Luke Franchina
Oh, great question.
00:35:09:09 - 00:35:10:27
Brandon
There's always something like something.
00:35:11:04 - 00:35:14:10
Luke Franchina
So I think it was very valuable.
00:35:14:10 - 00:35:27:06
Kevin
Okay, So I think that the daughter's describing all this stuff is really valuable because there's so much truth, I think, that comes from their experience. Oh yeah, this is to this. So the daughters actually describe him as a monster that.
00:35:27:12 - 00:35:29:08
Luke Franchina
So I have I, I looked at him.
00:35:29:08 - 00:35:36:07
Luke Franchina
Because I keep asking, is it a hammer? I don't know. It's it's stuff.
00:35:36:09 - 00:35:38:14
Kevin
Okay, fine. All right. So does.
00:35:38:19 - 00:35:40:12
Luke Franchina
Scribe, know you're.
00:35:40:14 - 00:35:40:24
Luke Franchina
30.
00:35:40:24 - 00:35:41:29
Luke Franchina
Three. It is again, it's.
00:35:41:29 - 00:35:43:15
Luke Franchina
I know it's a man being annoying.
00:35:43:15 - 00:35:43:29
Brandon
It is.
00:35:43:29 - 00:35:47:06
Luke Franchina
Mean. No, it's a fucking man back there like hammer and some shit that he shouldn't fucking.
00:35:47:06 - 00:35:52:04
Luke Franchina
Touch the go away. Yeah. Yeah. I want to do later. It's Sunday morning. Of course he's.
00:35:52:11 - 00:35:55:00
Luke Franchina
Doing like we're trying to do Gay-Straight here.
00:35:55:00 - 00:35:55:19
Luke Franchina
Right.
00:35:55:21 - 00:36:00:21
Luke Franchina
And we're trying to, like, talk about a serious topic, and we have this guy in the fucking background right now being annoying.
00:36:00:21 - 00:36:01:05
Luke Franchina
Like, shouldn't.
00:36:01:05 - 00:36:03:11
Kevin
He be at church? Isn't it Lord's Day?
00:36:03:11 - 00:36:04:20
Luke Franchina
What's today? Oh, it's Sunday.
00:36:04:20 - 00:36:05:12
Brandon
It is Sunday.
00:36:05:13 - 00:36:06:26
Kevin
It's just stay.
00:36:06:28 - 00:36:08:29
Luke Franchina
I'm glad he said something else.
00:36:09:01 - 00:36:10:05
Kevin
What do you think? It's a.
00:36:10:07 - 00:36:11:10
Luke Franchina
Jesus.
00:36:11:12 - 00:36:14:10
Luke Franchina
It's just. I love that more.
00:36:14:12 - 00:36:14:26
Kevin
I just said.
00:36:14:26 - 00:36:20:03
Luke Franchina
Jesus. I was like, What? It's just like, Oh, Jesus is, as I say.
00:36:20:05 - 00:36:34:12
Kevin
What a gay term. Jesus, Have you ever heard of, okay, there is this macaroni called Jesus, which are like little macaroni. Jesus is no cheese called Jesus actually was going to make it as a gift. And then I looked it up. I'm like, Oh, it's sort of been made.
00:36:34:12 - 00:36:36:11
Luke Franchina
Yeah, we thought we were flour.
00:36:36:12 - 00:36:37:07
Brandon
And we were.
00:36:37:09 - 00:36:59:02
Kevin
And it was so smart. Anyway. Okay, so daughter's describe him as a monster that he was born with evil and embraced it, which was a powerful statement. And that one. So there were calling memories. One remembers going outside and playing in her sandbox and hearing her mom crying. So she went inside to see what was going on. But immediately was spanked by her dad and sent back out.
00:36:59:04 - 00:37:20:22
Kevin
And then another remembers very few days that there wasn't violence in their home. Could you imagine? No. Like, just so they also said vacations, which are supposed to be a relaxing time. Yeah. So really bad. They remember once going to the zoo and Larry had one of the younger sisters on his shoulders and was looking at the hippos.
00:37:20:24 - 00:37:28:06
Kevin
And then he took that sister off his shoulders, hung over the railing while the other sisters cried, screamed and were scared. He thought it was hilarious.
00:37:28:07 - 00:37:29:26
Brandon
Of course he did. They all fucking do.
00:37:29:26 - 00:37:35:01
Kevin
Yeah. So they they're like he had a real sick humor and he had he found a lot of joy in.
00:37:35:01 - 00:37:36:14
Brandon
They're like, That's not funny that.
00:37:36:16 - 00:37:37:21
Luke Franchina
No. And that's like, sickening.
00:37:37:21 - 00:37:40:10
Luke Franchina
Yeah. Like these.
00:37:40:12 - 00:37:49:27
Brandon
Children, I'm sure are traumatized from all of this. And I really hope that they have been able to work through a lot of this because I'm sure their mistrust in men is very high.
00:37:50:03 - 00:37:50:12
Kevin
Absolutely.
00:37:50:14 - 00:37:51:06
Luke Franchina
Due to.
00:37:51:09 - 00:37:52:22
Brandon
The fact that their father is just a piece of.
00:37:52:22 - 00:37:53:27
Luke Franchina
Shit. Yeah, well, warranted.
00:37:53:27 - 00:38:16:10
Kevin
Yeah. Yeah, It was. Um, So anyway, they said that he was really good at knowing the best way to torture people, which is horrible. So he abused all the kids and none of them were immune to his wrath and anger. There was another incident where they were on their way to a basketball game and another sister of one of the other sisters and he was irritated with them being loud in the car.
00:38:16:12 - 00:38:26:14
Kevin
So he pulls the car over, grabs one of the girls out, pulling her out of the car and then threw her up against the car. Fortunately, another car drove by and started yelling at him.
00:38:26:14 - 00:38:27:23
Luke Franchina
Good, good for them.
00:38:27:23 - 00:38:50:16
Kevin
He stopped, threw her back in the car and drove off. And so the teachers weren't typically aware in general until one of the sisters went to school with a mark. And people started to know something because they started slowly slowing up. So their dad was big into sports. And if any of the girls didn't play well, it did not go well for them at home.
00:38:50:18 - 00:39:02:22
Kevin
So he gave one of the sisters a black eye. She went to school and the teacher was like, okay, enough so that Sister Linda was taken from the home, but it was only her.
00:39:02:29 - 00:39:03:09
Luke Franchina
What?
00:39:03:16 - 00:39:15:11
Kevin
And I have experience with this because when I was in when I was younger, I went through a severe abuse and I went to foster care, which is why I ended up getting adopted. They only took my older sister out and left us to Just.
00:39:15:15 - 00:39:17:12
Brandon
Because the abuse is only happening to one.
00:39:17:17 - 00:39:18:11
Luke Franchina
Like.
00:39:18:13 - 00:39:19:16
Brandon
That makes absolutely.
00:39:19:16 - 00:39:19:29
Luke Franchina
No sense.
00:39:19:29 - 00:39:27:29
Kevin
That they they go through this period of like, do I believe the child and do I test it out and whatever. But instead of so like they removed that one.
00:39:27:29 - 00:39:30:29
Luke Franchina
And then they just kind of leave the other one there.
00:39:31:02 - 00:39:31:08
Luke Franchina
To.
00:39:31:09 - 00:39:32:03
Brandon
Deal with more.
00:39:32:03 - 00:39:33:26
Luke Franchina
Like a porn. I don't know.
00:39:33:26 - 00:39:53:10
Kevin
And it's interesting too, because I when I left and went to foster home, I was probably four between four and six. I don't really remember. I went to foster care and my sister's well, older sister Cassie went, my two sisters, my sister Kimberly and I went and then I was separated to an all boys like orphanage. And then they were back to the home.
00:39:53:10 - 00:39:54:13
Brandon
Where they were being abused.
00:39:54:13 - 00:40:13:03
Kevin
IT Yeah. And then they went back and then, like, my mom lost her rights and my dad signed them away and all this shit. But it was our stepdad that she had married and we lived in a, a home, my biological mom stuff. And so the guy that she married, Michael, was also deaf. And so he lived in, like, this deaf home.
00:40:13:10 - 00:40:38:26
Kevin
Yeah. Which is interesting. And so oftentimes, um, I don't know what it was, but the sexual trauma, there was just a lot that was kind of in there. Yeah. And they sort of never went back. But yeah, so I get, but it's interesting that like they took one out. But here's what's interesting about these guys too, is that when Linda was taken from the home, she was the only one that was taken and she was only gone for a short time and brought back.
00:40:38:28 - 00:40:41:20
Kevin
She's brought isn't it crazy?
00:40:41:25 - 00:40:47:19
Luke Franchina
What, like they So can people not be held accountable for I'm like, curious about this?
00:40:47:19 - 00:40:57:00
Kevin
I don't know. I feel like there's a level of rehabilitation, right. That they allow for parents, which I do think is fair to a degree.
00:40:57:00 - 00:41:00:04
Brandon
Yeah, it depends on the case. I think it does say you're not you're.
00:41:00:04 - 00:41:02:16
Kevin
Not rehabilitated, you know, probably within a.
00:41:02:16 - 00:41:10:23
Luke Franchina
Month. Yeah. And that guys I think I mean the other side of it, he's way past that. Yeah. Did they know that. No. But they should have done more investigate.
00:41:10:24 - 00:41:12:22
Kevin
And this was maybe in the probably.
00:41:12:23 - 00:41:15:06
Luke Franchina
Yeah. Which is. Yeah. You know, which is.
00:41:15:06 - 00:41:41:19
Kevin
Like a you know now I'm sure it's different. I would hope it's different but even I was in that in the early nineties so you know, and it wasn't different then and I'm not sure it is as much now because the Yeah. Interesting. So anyway um no on their mom. Lovato So she's actually described as such a layer that layering to form such a caring.
00:41:41:21 - 00:41:44:21
Luke Franchina
We're thinking about layering. I know you know, let's face.
00:41:44:28 - 00:41:46:07
Luke Franchina
It, we don't like you, Larry Yeah.
00:41:46:07 - 00:42:11:11
Kevin
Hi, Larry Fuck you. So anyway, Lovato so described as a very caring individual and that she would do anything for her girls. She was really funny and smart, loving, just a really kind human. Um, and she would act as the buffer between him and the girls. And so obviously as, as that she would get a lot of abuse and it's.
00:42:11:11 - 00:42:13:27
Brandon
Just so sad. But I feel like if I was in her place, I'd probably.
00:42:13:27 - 00:42:14:24
Kevin
Do the same thing. Yeah.
00:42:15:01 - 00:42:15:28
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
00:42:16:01 - 00:42:39:13
Kevin
So she actually, uh, they actually say she actually really loved and cared for Larry, Like, she loved him deeply. So her killing him like that was really never an option. But obviously by the time she was there, that was kind of the only option. And so leaving their dad. So she tried to find ways to escape the situation, but her resources were obviously limited because he controlled everything.
00:42:39:15 - 00:42:57:02
Kevin
She didn't have money, so her daughters reached out to the police several times, but no one would help in general. So Loretta said that she did reach out to law enforcement multiple times throughout the years, but they did not help her. At one time, she divorced Larry. Oh. And fled to Georgia, which I remember. That daughter was like, let's get you to Atlanta.
00:42:57:04 - 00:43:11:15
Kevin
Yeah. So that was that. So her daughter said that they feared that he would find her and kill her. He ended up finding her and that was why she was with him again. So during one incident, she called police and they came, but they never went to the front door. Larry met them at the front step and told them everything was fine.
00:43:11:15 - 00:43:15:29
Kevin
Then they turned around, left. So multiple situations of them not even going inside of this.
00:43:15:29 - 00:43:16:13
Luke Franchina
And talking.
00:43:16:13 - 00:43:17:14
Kevin
To the people who are reporting.
00:43:17:15 - 00:43:17:27
Luke Franchina
Failing.
00:43:17:27 - 00:43:18:09
Brandon
Yes.
00:43:18:12 - 00:43:39:00
Kevin
Yeah. Like multiple times failing. Yeah. So the arrest in the trial. So obviously she was arrested that day. So trial happened. All this kind of stuff. She actually took a plea agreement for involuntary manslaughter so that she would have a low amount of years that, you know, that she would go the. Yeah. So the prosecution has for 8 to 12 years.
00:43:39:02 - 00:43:56:29
Kevin
That is almost what she got. So her daughters have said that they thought the monster was gone now, but now that their mom has to pay the price. Yeah. In general. So they also say that it was all self-defense, not what she wanted to do, but she reacted to a situation that she felt she had to do something.
00:43:57:01 - 00:44:09:22
Kevin
And they said it was a fight or flight and she decided to fight. Yeah. So she actually shot him in his sleep. And one of the daughters says, should she have waited until he was beating her again? Of course, it was great.
00:44:09:24 - 00:44:28:26
Brandon
And it's it's interesting, too, because as you're saying this, I'm thinking of the fact that like if say, you have an intruder in your home, Right. You have an intruder coming. Yeah. You can legally shoot and kill them and be fine. But what if the intruder lives in your home already? Yeah. Why is where's the line of like, I'm getting my ass beat for for this many years?
00:44:28:26 - 00:44:31:23
Kevin
I think it's a legal system that is structured to benefit men.
00:44:31:25 - 00:44:32:12
Luke Franchina
100.
00:44:32:12 - 00:44:33:12
Brandon
Percent, 100%.
00:44:33:12 - 00:44:36:28
Luke Franchina
Built. That's on misogyny. Yeah. Yep. I mean, that's 100%.
00:44:36:28 - 00:44:47:11
Brandon
Yeah. Well, in women are supposed to be are the men are the dominant and they're the ones that are supposed to be taking the lead and the women just have to just comply and be whatever they want. And it's such a fucked up.
00:44:47:11 - 00:44:59:20
Kevin
But I, and I'm on an advocate is I think that the the female gender or you know just just women in general are the dominant species. I think that that's why men have tried to take long.
00:44:59:20 - 00:45:00:09
Brandon
Oh yeah, for sure.
00:45:00:17 - 00:45:04:00
Kevin
I mean, because they are I think that they look at with their bodies. Yes, I.
00:45:04:04 - 00:45:04:13
Luke Franchina
Know. Yeah.
00:45:04:19 - 00:45:09:06
Brandon
It's insane. And and men just take advantage of it and they have.
00:45:09:08 - 00:45:09:24
Kevin
Fuckers.
00:45:09:24 - 00:45:11:26
Brandon
And it will continue because that's the society we're.
00:45:11:26 - 00:45:15:10
Kevin
In and we are so. I know. But yeah.
00:45:15:13 - 00:45:27:12
Luke Franchina
I could tell you right now like, like women are more in every, every aspect possible. I grew up with my, my two sisters, my mom. So like seeing them, I'm like, oh my God, Like.
00:45:27:15 - 00:45:31:07
Luke Franchina
They could do everything I could do. But better. Exactly like they do.
00:45:31:14 - 00:45:32:15
Luke Franchina
They're like, better. I'm like.
00:45:32:15 - 00:45:33:14
Luke Franchina
Oh, yeah, but like.
00:45:33:14 - 00:45:34:28
Luke Franchina
I don't take offense. I'm like, that's.
00:45:35:01 - 00:45:37:07
Luke Franchina
It's so cool. Like, it's just like, I know.
00:45:37:07 - 00:45:44:05
Kevin
I feel like as, as a human being supported by women, it lifts me up.
00:45:44:07 - 00:45:45:12
Luke Franchina
Yeah. I mean, even.
00:45:45:12 - 00:46:07:22
Brandon
With our agency, we have a team of all women and it's not because that we didn't have any men that were good for the actually, no, we didn't have any good men for the role. It was only women who happened to be good. And now that we have a staff of all women were like, If we bring on a man, I'm nervous to bring on a man that's going to have this ego, have this mentality that he is going to come in and tell everybody what to do and make all of this.
00:46:07:22 - 00:46:18:22
Brandon
So it's it's even in the workplace, it's it's the male dominance can be such an abusive kind of situation in general.
00:46:18:22 - 00:46:32:20
Kevin
There's a true there's a male fragility I think is a very major thing. People are so offended by successful, powerful women. And I think it's so and threatened. Yeah.
00:46:32:22 - 00:46:41:10
Luke Franchina
And even and even women that are don't hold like positions of power, like men are still, you know, threatened by them.
00:46:41:17 - 00:46:53:21
Kevin
And it's their sexual objects, which is it's like I even as a gay man, a man is not a sexual object to me. Right. They're just humans with dicks. And I like dicks, but.
00:46:53:23 - 00:46:56:26
Luke Franchina
You know, you do. Oh, my God. Oh, my.
00:46:56:26 - 00:46:58:19
Luke Franchina
God. Do you hear that? Husband of.
00:46:58:24 - 00:47:06:06
Luke Franchina
Of his? All the dicks. He's asleep. I'm not a slut anymore.
00:47:06:06 - 00:47:11:23
Kevin
I was a slew, you know. Oh, yeah. Oh, Mom, I had fun.
00:47:11:26 - 00:47:14:04
Luke Franchina
Or. Well.
00:47:14:07 - 00:47:16:27
Kevin
Before I met Brandon, I had a plethora of.
00:47:16:27 - 00:47:18:10
Luke Franchina
Dicks, you know, like.
00:47:18:13 - 00:47:25:19
Luke Franchina
Like that. I had a back brace.
00:47:25:22 - 00:47:27:10
Brandon
That TMJ didn't come from anywhere.
00:47:27:17 - 00:47:28:22
Luke Franchina
No.
00:47:28:24 - 00:47:43:00
Kevin
Okay, back to it. So, July 2021, Levada was sentenced 8 to 10 years in prison for this involuntary manslaughter, which is like the max basically. You know, So.
00:47:43:03 - 00:47:44:09
Luke Franchina
Here's so annoying.
00:47:44:09 - 00:48:04:28
Kevin
And here's what's interesting. The Larry's brother, Eugene Langdon, was was quoted as saying, I know what my brother was like and he was not a nice person. He had a dual personality. He had a public personality. And he would make people think he was high, mighty and a great person you take him back home and he was the monster you hear about in your closets.
00:48:05:01 - 00:48:11:26
Kevin
I feel like when you live through years of hell, what's the better dead? It is very heartbreaking for her to go through more years of hell.
00:48:11:28 - 00:48:14:20
Luke Franchina
Yeah. You have his actual brother.
00:48:14:20 - 00:48:14:27
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
00:48:15:04 - 00:48:15:20
Kevin
Like that is.
00:48:15:27 - 00:48:18:12
Brandon
Literally saying he is a piece of shit because piece.
00:48:18:12 - 00:48:20:21
Luke Franchina
Of shit and the justice system.
00:48:20:23 - 00:48:23:21
Luke Franchina
Still fails. Yep. Again, like you have.
00:48:23:23 - 00:48:26:26
Brandon
All of his immediate family saying, Hey, he's an abuser.
00:48:27:00 - 00:48:27:19
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
00:48:27:22 - 00:48:27:25
Kevin
So?
00:48:27:29 - 00:48:28:23
Brandon
So you don't believe it?
00:48:28:23 - 00:48:50:21
Kevin
No. So her daughter Linda said, I wish my mom can spend the rest of her of the time with her family because she deserves it. And that which I agree with her daughter, Laura, said that she has already served her life sentence. To have her spend any more time in jail just doesn't seem right. And then they said if someone is being abused, I hope they find the courage to ask for help.
00:48:50:23 - 00:48:58:25
Kevin
If they don't or if they do reach out for help. I hope someone helps. I just want people to reach out and help one another, which I think is a great time for your PSA.
00:48:58:26 - 00:49:23:05
Luke Franchina
Yeah, PSA, I mean, don't possess. But yes, it's so there's so many layers to that. Yeah. And I know I speak on it. It's like, hey, you know, don't possess which is a lot easier said than done, right? Yeah, sure. And I want to recognize that especially in these situations it's, it's something that people have to prepare for that they a lot of times have to do meticulously.
00:49:23:07 - 00:49:36:09
Luke Franchina
And a lot of times we we see situations like she had before where she did try to reach out for help and the system fails. And I think that it's something that needs to be recognized. And I think that.
00:49:36:11 - 00:49:36:27
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
00:49:36:29 - 00:49:42:21
Luke Franchina
We have to do better. I don't know how that works and that's what frustrates me the most. It's like, I don't know.
00:49:42:23 - 00:49:43:11
Luke Franchina
What to.
00:49:43:11 - 00:49:44:18
Luke Franchina
Do. Like, I don't know.
00:49:44:19 - 00:49:47:19
Brandon
Well, it's frustrating because to like a normal person.
00:49:47:23 - 00:49:50:05
Luke Franchina
Yeah, we like you wouldn't think of.
00:49:50:10 - 00:50:10:18
Brandon
Abusing somebody in general. So it's like, what do you do in a sentence? Because depending on the type of abuse, it could be dangerous stay. It could be dangerous to leave. And it's kind of up to the person to try to find that support system. Yeah, to get out of there because our justice system doesn't isn't there for them.
00:50:10:18 - 00:50:17:03
Luke Franchina
It's not our justice system. That's that's the thing with the justice system. It's still to this day fails.
00:50:17:05 - 00:50:17:20
Brandon
Yeah.
00:50:17:22 - 00:50:37:03
Luke Franchina
And I don't I don't see much happening there, which means again and like, I don't know, as a person I'm like, How? What do I do? I don't know. I need to figure out more ways around ways. Like me as a person can help. Yeah, my day to day. And I don't know if it's like certain, like helping out with women's shelters.
00:50:37:05 - 00:50:40:00
Kevin
Um, I think being present.
00:50:40:02 - 00:50:41:21
Luke Franchina
For the.
00:50:41:24 - 00:51:03:05
Kevin
Humans in our life, particularly women in our life or those who identify as women, that being there for them and knowing that we are the safe space to help them get out of something that's difficult for for LaVette his case is that you know they did try in the same field but she was so controlled she didn't have access to money.
00:51:03:05 - 00:51:04:07
Kevin
She didn't have access to anything.
00:51:04:07 - 00:51:07:00
Luke Franchina
And there's a lot of people that are in that situation.
00:51:07:00 - 00:51:20:16
Kevin
Yes there are. So it's like, what can you do to really reach out and try to get the help that you can? And I think unfortunately, people in Dennis, right where they kill their abuser and then their life is taken from them. Yeah. And it was their only option.
00:51:20:16 - 00:51:29:07
Brandon
Yeah. I want to say somewhere I found a statistic where it was like an abnormally large percent of people who have killed their abuser end up in prison. Yeah.
00:51:29:10 - 00:51:29:25
Kevin
No.
00:51:29:28 - 00:51:33:05
Brandon
But yet the person who was the abuser got away with so much. And then.
00:51:33:10 - 00:51:34:06
Kevin
It's just.
00:51:34:08 - 00:51:35:04
Luke Franchina
Four years.
00:51:35:07 - 00:51:36:13
Luke Franchina
Yeah, it's.
00:51:36:16 - 00:51:54:29
Brandon
It's one of those lines when it comes to what we speak on this podcast where it's like, what? Where's the line of the okay and not okay and, and who is to judge what somebody is experience was to tell them that they did the right or wrong thing when they thought their own life was in danger.
00:51:54:29 - 00:51:55:21
Luke Franchina
Yeah, yeah.
00:51:55:24 - 00:51:57:21
Brandon
Right.
00:51:57:23 - 00:52:03:21
Kevin
Okay. So where it is today, So this was so easy to do it.
00:52:03:24 - 00:52:06:00
Brandon
And I said, Sorry, honey.
00:52:06:02 - 00:52:07:20
Kevin
I'm. What do you know, Terry?
00:52:07:20 - 00:52:09:12
Luke Franchina
You have my whole saliva.
00:52:09:13 - 00:52:10:14
Luke Franchina
Oh.
00:52:10:16 - 00:52:11:06
Luke Franchina
Okay.
00:52:11:06 - 00:52:12:21
Luke Franchina
I was like, He's over here. Like what?
00:52:12:24 - 00:52:14:09
Luke Franchina
It's like my saliva.
00:52:14:09 - 00:52:25:29
Luke Franchina
And I'm like, Oh, I know. It's like. It's like my saliva. Yeah. I'm so sexy. I just.
00:52:26:02 - 00:53:00:02
Kevin
So anyway, if you recall, she was sentenced in July 2021, so 8 to 10 years. So fast forward to December 2023, which just happened. Loretta's his lawyer has requested for a commuted sentence. And so the Pardons Board, they were holding the hearing and then decided to postpone the hearing. And so Governor Jim appellant's second in the motion of Attorney General Mike Hilgers to table the application for the commutation request, they agreed that more information would be needed to make a fair and just decision regarding her sentence.
00:53:00:02 - 00:53:14:20
Kevin
So they didn't say no, but they said like we need a little bit more information. So the Pardons Board did confirm that they would make a statement during the next hearing before they make a decision. And apparently that that is supposed to happen sometime in January 2024 we're in right now.
00:53:14:20 - 00:53:21:02
Brandon
So in this episode airs on January 30th. So I'm hoping by our next episode we might be able to give a little update.
00:53:21:05 - 00:53:53:01
Kevin
Yeah, but I did want to share a couple of things because I think this is valuable. So the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence, their phone number one 800 5372238. And then of course, you can go to an R, C, d reorg or w w w the 2va net dot org. But then also the National Domestic Violence Hotline is one 800 7897233 or one 879 safe that's a so and that website is the hotline dot org.
00:53:53:04 - 00:54:03:09
Luke Franchina
So anyway I yeah I just if you're in that situation I encourage you to make a plan. Yes reach out to them.
00:54:03:11 - 00:54:11:05
Brandon
Yeah yes track everything make document everything that happens anything that they do to you, anything that happens.
00:54:11:08 - 00:54:27:01
Kevin
And if you have a cell phone, you know, set up a camera, you know, put it somewhere. If you you know, I just realize in those moments it's probably not easy to shitty these fucking men, man. Oh, okay. Anyway, so that was that's the story, guys.
00:54:27:01 - 00:54:30:11
Luke Franchina
Of love that are. Poor thing.
00:54:30:14 - 00:54:33:19
Brandon
Maybe we can make it. You're never too old to kill his ass.
00:54:33:22 - 00:54:35:04
Luke Franchina
Oh, my God. Yeah.
00:54:35:06 - 00:54:59:29
Kevin
I mean, it's true. Oh, there isn't one thing that because I did find a lot of these quotes via this company called RJ Productions, there's actually a video of the story of at LinkedIn on Facebook. Oh, so yeah, it's her daughters that are talking about Oh, that's sincere, which I thought was really cool. Yeah. So there was a change.org that they had started to get signatures to like get her to be submitted for to be.
00:54:59:29 - 00:55:03:12
Luke Franchina
Oh, where can we get that? I would like to Yeah. Can I get signed.
00:55:03:18 - 00:55:05:17
Luke Franchina
Yeah. Yeah, I would. I think that's, I'll put.
00:55:05:17 - 00:55:09:15
Kevin
It on to our show notes about in the description on YouTube.
00:55:09:15 - 00:55:10:00
Luke Franchina
Okay. Yeah for.
00:55:10:00 - 00:55:24:13
Kevin
Sure. Yeah. Because I think it's important. And this woman does not deserve to be in prison. No. At all. That that motherfucker deserved what he got and probably more. And I can't believe that it took her that long, You know, as an 80 year old woman.
00:55:24:13 - 00:55:25:21
Brandon
Yeah, I feel it finally.
00:55:25:24 - 00:55:28:06
Luke Franchina
Oh, yeah. But, I mean, again, I mean. Yeah.
00:55:28:08 - 00:55:33:11
Kevin
I know. I mean, she clearly did not want to kill him. If she didn't, she would have done it in 1962. Yeah.
00:55:33:13 - 00:55:34:06
Luke Franchina
But this year, although.
00:55:34:13 - 00:55:35:28
Luke Franchina
All the blame is on him.
00:55:35:28 - 00:55:42:25
Kevin
Yes, it's always right. It's just, it's so that these are the moments where like morality and law.
00:55:42:25 - 00:55:43:08
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
00:55:43:09 - 00:55:45:17
Kevin
Yeah, it just is. It's difficult.
00:55:45:17 - 00:55:49:06
Brandon
Yeah, well, it's only going to get worse with my episode.
00:55:49:06 - 00:55:49:28
Luke Franchina
I doing.
00:55:49:28 - 00:55:51:05
Brandon
This, I keep hitting my head.
00:55:51:10 - 00:55:55:08
Kevin
You know, and you just want to keep looking at Luke's. Gorgeous.
00:55:55:11 - 00:55:57:25
Luke Franchina
I was like, my big tits.
00:55:57:27 - 00:55:58:28
Luke Franchina
Did you like criticism? Like, Oh.
00:55:58:28 - 00:56:01:11
Luke Franchina
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's, that's, that's. You know, they have.
00:56:01:11 - 00:56:04:02
Luke Franchina
That as well. They're just they're so big. You have great.
00:56:04:02 - 00:56:04:26
Kevin
Luscious.
00:56:04:29 - 00:56:10:12
Luke Franchina
I know. I love mine. I actually love my sister. Really? Yeah. Her name is Tina. This is Esmeralda.
00:56:10:13 - 00:56:12:11
Luke Franchina
Tina and Esmeralda. I love it. Yeah.
00:56:12:12 - 00:56:13:05
Luke Franchina
Really cute.
00:56:13:07 - 00:56:14:11
Kevin
I don't love mine.
00:56:14:14 - 00:56:15:00
Luke Franchina
What?
00:56:15:00 - 00:56:16:01
Kevin
I know. I should.
00:56:16:03 - 00:56:17:12
Luke Franchina
Show you. Jesus. So you need.
00:56:17:12 - 00:56:17:26
Brandon
To embrace.
00:56:17:26 - 00:56:21:03
Luke Franchina
It is. Yeah. They like them. They like the girls, a girl.
00:56:21:03 - 00:56:27:28
Luke Franchina
And boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. Looking like a jackass.
00:56:27:28 - 00:56:28:24
Luke Franchina
I know.
00:56:28:26 - 00:56:29:23
Luke Franchina
Am I.
00:56:29:25 - 00:56:31:25
Luke Franchina
Okay? My names are always hard to say.
00:56:31:25 - 00:56:32:06
Brandon
Well.
00:56:32:09 - 00:56:45:07
Luke Franchina
What is that? I mean, I don't. I don't mind it, but I'm like a this. I'm in Mexico, and I was like, sunbathing. I was like, oh, sunbathing. Like the sun is beaming down. It's like 90 degrees. I'm laying out there and my nipples are heart is.
00:56:45:07 - 00:56:47:10
Luke Franchina
Broken and the sun in this don't.
00:56:47:10 - 00:56:55:14
Kevin
Know that that happens. Maybe it happens to me. I had my sight at 1.0 and and it was amazing And I had gorgeous, full pierced millipedes.
00:56:55:20 - 00:56:57:26
Luke Franchina
But I feel like to be hard to sleep with those.
00:56:57:26 - 00:57:02:11
Kevin
No, it was. I mean, well, okay. I don't know that they ever healed in like the four years I had them.
00:57:02:12 - 00:57:03:17
Luke Franchina
Oh, they were just.
00:57:03:24 - 00:57:04:23
Brandon
Very sad and they.
00:57:04:23 - 00:57:08:27
Kevin
Were so sit like I could like you could touch them. They would immediately be hard. Boom.
00:57:08:27 - 00:57:11:06
Luke Franchina
Oh, like it was weird. Oh, yeah.
00:57:11:08 - 00:57:13:21
Kevin
Not now, but we were in the spotlight.
00:57:13:21 - 00:57:15:00
Luke Franchina
And I know I'm not used.
00:57:15:00 - 00:57:16:25
Brandon
To it being here.
00:57:16:27 - 00:57:17:21
Kevin
Stop ruining my.
00:57:17:21 - 00:57:18:29
Brandon
Story. I'm sorry.
00:57:19:00 - 00:57:20:11
Luke Franchina
Just kidding. It's a no.
00:57:20:11 - 00:57:21:27
Kevin
But I ripped one out with a towel.
00:57:22:00 - 00:57:23:25
Luke Franchina
I. I was there.
00:57:24:00 - 00:57:24:26
Brandon
And I was like.
00:57:24:28 - 00:57:28:15
Luke Franchina
The pain of that, like, makes me, like, the thought of the people that.
00:57:28:15 - 00:57:31:29
Luke Franchina
Made me you like. Yeah, it was horrible.
00:57:32:02 - 00:57:38:23
Kevin
And when I pierced them, like your nipples are connected, I think because I pierced one and this one was like five.
00:57:38:26 - 00:57:40:10
Luke Franchina
And it was so hard.
00:57:40:12 - 00:57:47:09
Kevin
And like, getting it pierced was the most painful thing ever, but also kind of erotic.
00:57:47:11 - 00:57:48:03
Brandon
Masochist.
00:57:48:03 - 00:58:00:23
Kevin
I know, but yeah, no ripping that one out. And then this one almost ripped out. And then I just eventually just took it out. Yeah. Which stuck, but stunk. My nipples are not the same. No matter. They're fine, but they're.
00:58:00:24 - 00:58:02:11
Brandon
It's because they healed and they healed.
00:58:02:12 - 00:58:02:19
Kevin
Yeah.
00:58:02:20 - 00:58:05:23
Luke Franchina
They like it. Oh, my God. I just run it. It's, you.
00:58:05:23 - 00:58:07:09
Luke Franchina
Know. But I.
00:58:07:12 - 00:58:08:16
Brandon
Can right. He just like.
00:58:08:18 - 00:58:09:09
Luke Franchina
I know they.
00:58:09:09 - 00:58:10:11
Brandon
Made fun of me for it. Yes.
00:58:10:11 - 00:58:11:25
Kevin
My nipple kind of looks like.
00:58:11:27 - 00:58:14:01
Luke Franchina
Uh, like a finger nub.
00:58:14:04 - 00:58:15:28
Kevin
Yeah, it's like a like, here's your nip.
00:58:15:28 - 00:58:16:27
Luke Franchina
Right.
00:58:16:29 - 00:58:19:09
Kevin
Up, And then there's, like, a little bump and bump on the side from that.
00:58:19:09 - 00:58:23:09
Luke Franchina
Okay, so, like, a little camel action that camelback. Camel.
00:58:23:12 - 00:58:23:26
Luke Franchina
Oh.
00:58:23:29 - 00:58:25:11
Luke Franchina
Okay. The whoop.
00:58:25:14 - 00:58:30:25
Luke Franchina
Whoop. Yeah. So now, you know, like, anyway, you know, let's say.
00:58:30:25 - 00:58:32:29
Luke Franchina
Like the Grand Teton Times.
00:58:33:02 - 00:58:33:21
Kevin
The Grand Teton.
00:58:33:21 - 00:58:37:12
Luke Franchina
I know. And you don't, you know, that's French for that. The tits.
00:58:37:12 - 00:58:37:23
Luke Franchina
I did.
00:58:37:23 - 00:58:47:12
Luke Franchina
Not. I think that's I think that's where I, that's what I was told. So I don't know that I'm a ma'am so don't believe a lot of what I say I know about because.
00:58:47:14 - 00:58:47:15
Luke Franchina
The.
00:58:47:17 - 00:58:48:19
Kevin
Grand Teton.
00:58:48:22 - 00:58:49:24
Brandon
Because I heard it once and.
00:58:49:24 - 00:58:50:19
Luke Franchina
I'm going with I'm.
00:58:50:23 - 00:58:54:11
Luke Franchina
Running with it. So I heard that that we came from Yeah.
00:58:54:12 - 00:58:55:11
Luke Franchina
I didn't know that that.
00:58:55:17 - 00:58:57:14
Luke Franchina
Say, like the three tits or something. The three.
00:58:57:14 - 00:59:03:28
Kevin
Two. But I haven't been to the Grand Teton in quite a while. But we would go to Yellowstone quite a bit and we would pass through.
00:59:04:04 - 00:59:06:04
Luke Franchina
Yeah, that was my favorite trip I took this past year.
00:59:06:06 - 00:59:07:03
Luke Franchina
Oh, yeah, you did go there.
00:59:07:03 - 00:59:16:22
Luke Franchina
I drove from Utah, Salt Lake City. I got a convertible and I drove up. And. I know. And I drove to Jackson. Yeah, I did it the whole. Yeah, It was so fucking amazing.
00:59:16:25 - 00:59:16:29
Kevin
Yeah.
00:59:16:29 - 00:59:18:24
Luke Franchina
I was like, I'm going to go do this.
00:59:18:26 - 00:59:19:21
Luke Franchina
I only do it.
00:59:19:23 - 00:59:22:17
Kevin
And then I remember seeing a video of you in Yellowstone, right?
00:59:22:17 - 00:59:28:28
Luke Franchina
Yeah. I didn't go to Yellowstone because I got I just. I love the Teton so much. I was just exploring Jackson Jackson Hole. Jackson. That's where you.
00:59:28:28 - 00:59:29:15
Kevin
Were? Yes.
00:59:29:15 - 00:59:33:20
Luke Franchina
Jackson was. And it was. So I'm going to do it again. I've never been here. So I was.
00:59:33:20 - 00:59:34:07
Kevin
Like.
00:59:34:09 - 00:59:35:05
Luke Franchina
Pulled over and I.
00:59:35:05 - 00:59:36:07
Luke Franchina
Was like, crying in.
00:59:36:14 - 00:59:37:03
Luke Franchina
My convertible.
00:59:37:03 - 00:59:45:06
Luke Franchina
Because I was like, I just like this is the first time it was like a turning point in my, like, break up. Oh, it was like this first time, like I was spending time with myself and I'm actually enjoying.
00:59:45:09 - 00:59:47:25
Kevin
Oh, and those are really, I think, incredible wonder.
00:59:47:25 - 00:59:48:20
Brandon
Powerful moment. Yeah.
00:59:48:21 - 00:59:51:20
Kevin
And we're Brenda and I are a little bit separate. We're not separated, but.
00:59:51:20 - 00:59:52:15
Luke Franchina
We're here.
00:59:52:19 - 00:59:59:28
Kevin
Right now because I've been in New York. Yeah, it's been here. I mean, it's difficult, but there's an element of exploring who you are again.
00:59:59:29 - 01:00:00:12
Luke Franchina
Alone.
01:00:00:17 - 01:00:01:05
Brandon
Yeah.
01:00:01:07 - 01:00:15:28
Kevin
Which I think is healthy. Oh, for sure. Do you actually think it's healthy for for people? And regardless of if you're in a breakup or not, I do think that alone time is severely important, so I agree. Yeah. Um, anyway, I wish that LA better had alone time.
01:00:16:01 - 01:00:17:27
Luke Franchina
All right. Well, yeah. Not in prison.
01:00:17:27 - 01:00:26:14
Kevin
Abusive. Yeah. No, not in prison. But anyway. Okay, friends, that was my. That was my story. Nice. Hillary Lovato.
01:00:26:17 - 01:00:27:20
Luke Franchina
Yeah. Fuck you, Larry.
01:00:27:24 - 01:00:39:16
Kevin
I know. Fuck you, Larry. But also I do hope that there's a great outcome for Lovato and sending her our love to her daughters. Yes, it's serious. They did not ask us to do this episode. I just found it and felt compelled to to share the story. Yes, I.
01:00:39:16 - 01:00:41:26
Luke Franchina
Like. Well, thank you once again. Because.
01:00:41:28 - 01:00:42:16
Brandon
Yeah.
01:00:42:18 - 01:00:44:26
Kevin
You know where we love to go, girl.
01:00:45:01 - 01:00:46:01
Luke Franchina
You know, we're rooting for you.
01:00:46:08 - 01:00:46:21
Luke Franchina
All right.
01:00:46:21 - 01:00:47:15
Kevin
Brandon, are you.
01:00:47:15 - 01:00:47:25
Luke Franchina
Ready?
01:00:48:02 - 01:00:48:24
Brandon
I am ready.
01:00:48:26 - 01:00:50:05
Kevin
All right, let's do it.
01:00:50:07 - 01:00:53:04
Luke Franchina
Oh, my God. Wow.
01:00:53:06 - 01:01:02:20
Brandon
So my story today is on Sarah Gonzalez, MacLean, Sarah Right. So the episode that I titled is a story written in Blood.
01:01:02:28 - 01:01:03:10
Luke Franchina
Mm hmm.
01:01:03:14 - 01:01:11:05
Brandon
Mm hmm. So, okay, so Sarah Gonzalez McClinton was born July 9th, 1994, in Topeka, Kansas.
01:01:11:07 - 01:01:12:10
Kevin
The great Kansas.
01:01:12:16 - 01:01:18:12
Brandon
I love that. I don't love any of this. But both of our stories come from like the middle of nowhere U.S.A..
01:01:18:16 - 01:01:22:05
Kevin
Nebraska and Kansas is the worst state to drive through, by the way. And it's.
01:01:22:06 - 01:01:22:26
Luke Franchina
Really.
01:01:23:01 - 01:01:23:29
Brandon
It's so boring.
01:01:23:29 - 01:01:24:12
Kevin
It's just.
01:01:24:12 - 01:01:24:28
Brandon
So boring.
01:01:24:28 - 01:01:34:15
Kevin
Every sign is like no abortion. And we love Trump and Jesus saves. And it's just a lot. Yeah, it's a conservative's dream. It is not a gay man stream.
01:01:34:16 - 01:01:36:20
Luke Franchina
Okay. Correct. You know, definitely not my dreams.
01:01:36:20 - 01:01:37:09
Luke Franchina
No, it's not.
01:01:37:09 - 01:01:40:17
Luke Franchina
That I don't want to talk about my dreams, but.
01:01:40:20 - 01:01:42:11
Luke Franchina
It's definitely not that.
01:01:42:14 - 01:01:44:07
Luke Franchina
Last night was.
01:01:44:09 - 01:01:45:13
Kevin
When I used to tell us about your dream.
01:01:45:18 - 01:01:52:02
Luke Franchina
I mean, I. I have very vivid dreams. I remember all my dreams to do. Really? I do, Yeah.
01:01:52:04 - 01:01:53:03
Luke Franchina
So I. That I.
01:01:53:04 - 01:02:02:05
Luke Franchina
Do. Yeah. So my dreams and like, because I haven't been able to be a little slut recently, I hope my dreams have been very.
01:02:02:08 - 01:02:04:23
Luke Franchina
Sexual and having gotten very.
01:02:04:25 - 01:02:05:29
Brandon
They've been very aggressive.
01:02:05:29 - 01:02:06:20
Luke Franchina
They've been very quiet.
01:02:06:20 - 01:02:09:28
Luke Franchina
So I'm like, Oh my God, It's not even a fantasy of mine. Why is it's like.
01:02:10:01 - 01:02:13:14
Luke Franchina
I'm like, Oh God, I think it's crazy when it does.
01:02:13:14 - 01:02:13:29
Luke Franchina
Yeah, I know.
01:02:14:03 - 01:02:15:26
Brandon
Like, it's not a fantasy, but maybe it is now.
01:02:15:26 - 01:02:23:05
Luke Franchina
I know. I'm like, look at it's my fantasy. I'm like, Turn off the pages. I'm so annoyed. Wait, tell this one one.
01:02:23:05 - 01:02:25:15
Kevin
Spicy tidbit from the dream. Just one.
01:02:25:17 - 01:02:32:11
Luke Franchina
Um. I was bent over.
01:02:32:13 - 01:02:36:02
Luke Franchina
All I know were I was over.
01:02:36:08 - 01:02:37:21
Luke Franchina
A pool table on a yacht.
01:02:37:24 - 01:02:39:29
Luke Franchina
I know, but it was weird because I think.
01:02:40:01 - 01:02:42:04
Luke Franchina
I was on a yacht. I was like, How do you play right?
01:02:42:06 - 01:02:43:16
Luke Franchina
Doesn't the boss like you?
01:02:43:16 - 01:02:52:04
Luke Franchina
And I said, in the dream, I said, Why is there a pool table on a yacht like this? Doesn't make sense. And he's like, your mouth. You're he's like, Don't give me that mouth or something. And I was like, I'll give you a mouthful.
01:02:52:06 - 01:02:56:02
Luke Franchina
And then it was like, it was. So I was like, Oh my God.
01:02:56:02 - 01:02:59:18
Luke Franchina
And then I woke up and I was like.
01:02:59:21 - 01:03:11:05
Luke Franchina
I think it's like, silence my cat. It's like. Like it is like over the air. Like, it was like, well, my day is getting started, but yeah, I never got my place.
01:03:11:08 - 01:03:14:20
Luke Franchina
But my dreams are so weird like that. Like I was the first. I was like, Weiser put him on.
01:03:14:23 - 01:03:20:16
Brandon
Right? And I like how like you were logical about the fact that, like, I'm going to go with this guy is the reporting.
01:03:20:18 - 01:03:21:06
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
01:03:21:09 - 01:03:23:23
Kevin
I love your dreams. Yeah.
01:03:23:29 - 01:03:30:19
Luke Franchina
Yeah. Like, they're. They're. I mean, if I should talk about them sometimes, because every single dream, I'm like, I wake up and I'm like, What the.
01:03:30:19 - 01:03:33:08
Luke Franchina
Hell is that? I love it. Yeah.
01:03:33:12 - 01:03:34:12
Luke Franchina
Anyway.
01:03:34:14 - 01:03:47:06
Luke Franchina
I'm sorry I was not seeing you. That was Bug. Oh, stop it. Or anything like that. It's going to be fine. I don't think I do, cuz. Very well. Ever. So even if you were like, move on.
01:03:47:06 - 01:03:48:09
Luke Franchina
I'd be like, Why are you waiting?
01:03:48:09 - 01:03:57:29
Luke Franchina
I mean, I like, you're like, Hi. Yeah, we've been together for hours. I like, slept my, like, I don't know what's going on. Boo Boo, Boo boo! Oh, my God.
01:03:58:01 - 01:04:00:04
Kevin
That was hilarious. Okay, Thank you for sharing that moment.
01:04:00:04 - 01:04:01:03
Luke Franchina
Yes, I love. You're welcome.
01:04:01:03 - 01:04:01:21
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
01:04:01:23 - 01:04:02:01
Kevin
All right.
01:04:02:01 - 01:04:03:04
Luke Franchina
Brand, Right now.
01:04:03:04 - 01:04:06:24
Brandon
It feels weird to talk about Sarah being homeschooled as a young child, but she was.
01:04:06:24 - 01:04:09:10
Luke Franchina
Okay. Same as many.
01:04:09:13 - 01:04:29:03
Brandon
As many noted, she was pretty sheltered and naive. But growing up, she she had a sister in a disabled younger brother, which she often was in charge of taking care of. And so at a young age, her parents got divorced and some time in the process and I saw this in a few different sources, but I didn't see what age she was and what actually happened.
01:04:29:05 - 01:04:50:27
Brandon
But during the process of getting their divorce, a neighbor of theirs raped Sarah. I didn't get much information, but she was sexually abused when she was really young. So but in this time, Sarah started to feel very alone in unwanted through her parents divorce. I mean, she felt very isolated, which in turn caused a lot of tension in her family and tension between her and her parents.
01:04:50:27 - 01:05:09:09
Brandon
Yeah. So this tension caused Sarah to act out a little bit. So starting she started a party and drink and she desperately tried to look for her way out at a really young age. At the age of 14, Sarah got a job at one of the most disgusting pizza places around CC's Pizza. Oh.
01:05:09:12 - 01:05:09:27
Luke Franchina
Okay.
01:05:10:04 - 01:05:11:10
Kevin
Wait a second.
01:05:11:12 - 01:05:13:06
Luke Franchina
I don't. I haven't been there like that.
01:05:13:10 - 01:05:14:00
Brandon
It's so gross.
01:05:14:00 - 01:05:17:18
Luke Franchina
I love how you had to ask that. I could ask that in there.
01:05:17:21 - 01:05:19:25
Luke Franchina
Sorry. Because because of what's on my mind. Go on.
01:05:20:02 - 01:05:30:21
Brandon
Because it's where she met the owner, a 48 year old man named Harold, who is a sleazebag. And so I think of like it's discussing pizza place. Of course, he would own a couple of pizzas.
01:05:30:26 - 01:05:32:06
Kevin
Well, it's so gross.
01:05:32:09 - 01:05:33:13
Brandon
Don't tell me you like slices.
01:05:33:13 - 01:05:39:03
Kevin
I don't, but I do. Okay. Yes and no. I like their dessert pizza.
01:05:39:04 - 01:05:40:06
Luke Franchina
Oh, my God. I was just thinking.
01:05:40:06 - 01:05:43:24
Luke Franchina
That the dessert pizza with, like, the cinnamon, like, Oh, my God. Literally.
01:05:43:24 - 01:05:44:23
Luke Franchina
But that was about put it.
01:05:44:23 - 01:05:45:19
Luke Franchina
In and around me now.
01:05:45:21 - 01:05:46:20
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
01:05:46:22 - 01:05:47:23
Kevin
I would lick it.
01:05:47:25 - 01:05:49:03
Luke Franchina
I would, I would.
01:05:49:06 - 01:05:50:11
Luke Franchina
Would say.
01:05:50:11 - 01:05:51:06
Kevin
Several things. Yeah.
01:05:51:08 - 01:05:52:20
Luke Franchina
Yeah. You know.
01:05:52:23 - 01:05:53:24
Kevin
It's, it was always really.
01:05:53:24 - 01:05:58:25
Brandon
Really I went there once and it was like all the pizza was cold and it was.
01:05:58:27 - 01:06:02:05
Luke Franchina
Cold pizza, but it was like if.
01:06:02:08 - 01:06:02:29
Brandon
It was, I.
01:06:02:29 - 01:06:03:13
Luke Franchina
Hated it.
01:06:03:14 - 01:06:07:09
Luke Franchina
Okay, okay. Well, I haven't been there long time, so.
01:06:07:12 - 01:06:09:26
Brandon
Maybe we'll give it another try. Maybe we'll do an episode.
01:06:09:29 - 01:06:12:14
Luke Franchina
At a see. We'll invite.
01:06:12:14 - 01:06:12:23
Kevin
You back.
01:06:12:23 - 01:06:14:22
Luke Franchina
Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's good to see season.
01:06:14:23 - 01:06:17:19
Luke Franchina
No, because I wouldn't stop eating.
01:06:17:22 - 01:06:22:14
Luke Franchina
We have to record the episode. Mike. I love it.
01:06:22:17 - 01:06:35:29
Brandon
So again, this is where she ends up meeting the 48 year old owner, Harold Sasko. GROSS Yeah, From what I've read about Harold, he was the definition of a creep. He presented himself as a devout Christian.
01:06:36:01 - 01:06:37:09
Luke Franchina
Oh, my.
01:06:37:12 - 01:06:38:03
Luke Franchina
God, I'm so shocked.
01:06:38:03 - 01:06:40:00
Luke Franchina
And start and.
01:06:40:02 - 01:06:47:05
Brandon
Was known to tell people at the restaurant to only hire young, attractive girls career.
01:06:47:07 - 01:06:49:19
Kevin
So this is this was an owner of a.
01:06:49:21 - 01:06:52:11
Brandon
Yes he owned two six pizzas that I saw.
01:06:52:11 - 01:06:55:19
Kevin
So he was a lovely, devout Christian man that said yes.
01:06:55:21 - 01:06:56:13
Brandon
Yeah. And I.
01:06:56:13 - 01:06:57:03
Kevin
Also.
01:06:57:05 - 01:07:02:05
Brandon
And I also saw that he was a partier in his house was always stocked with alcohol, weed, cocaine and ecstasy.
01:07:02:05 - 01:07:03:12
Kevin
You know, sounds very Christian.
01:07:03:15 - 01:07:07:21
Brandon
Did say the occasional cocaine and ecstasy case. Very Christian. Amen. Jesus.
01:07:07:21 - 01:07:08:07
Kevin
Yeah.
01:07:08:09 - 01:07:09:03
Brandon
Here's my ex's.
01:07:09:03 - 01:07:09:19
Kevin
Approved.
01:07:09:25 - 01:07:10:11
Luke Franchina
Jesus. Yeah.
01:07:10:16 - 01:07:28:02
Brandon
So after some time there and Harold got pretty close, so close, she thought of him as a parental figure, and she even called him Dad occasionally. And he would call her his daughter, which again, at this time she is 14, he's 48 or something like that.
01:07:28:08 - 01:07:29:09
Luke Franchina
Okay.
01:07:29:12 - 01:07:51:03
Brandon
So yeah, So throughout the next couple of years, Sarah moved on to other jobs, but they always stayed in touch and their relationship kind of grew by the age of 15, Sarah was again violently assaulted by a family friend. Yeah. So you had to really. She had a pretty hard childhood. This attack ended up leaving Sarah with severe PTSD, which caused her to have flashbacks and nightmares.
01:07:51:05 - 01:07:59:12
Brandon
I mean, in this attack, Sarah was pushed onto a coffee table, which then broke the coffee table, and she was burned with cigarets and eventually raped.
01:07:59:14 - 01:08:00:22
Luke Franchina
Oh, yeah.
01:08:00:25 - 01:08:12:09
Brandon
Yeah. This is the story is pretty rough. So the unfortunate this unfortunate event caused Sarah to become suicidal suicide deal, which ended and she ended up being hospitalized for a short period.
01:08:12:09 - 01:08:27:18
Kevin
Which there are some statistics out there that equate some pretty severe early age child abuse and sexual abuse with suicidal ideation. Yeah. And so it is pretty common. It is. Yeah. That is something that. Yeah. Which of course.
01:08:27:24 - 01:08:45:02
Brandon
So at the age of 17, Sarah was able to actually graduate early from Topeka High School. I and she needed to find out where her next move was going to be since she wanted to get away from her family. So thinking about who she no, she knew she got in contact with Harold. I mean, he offered her to move into his apartment and he said that he would take care of her.
01:08:45:07 - 01:08:46:01
Luke Franchina
Oh, God, Yeah.
01:08:46:01 - 01:08:53:10
Brandon
He said he would show her a better life and pay for her to go to college. At this time, she was 17 and he was 55.
01:08:53:13 - 01:08:58:18
Kevin
And I bet you one of the. Wow. One of the first things he was like, you know, except Jesus. Yeah.
01:08:58:21 - 01:09:26:21
Brandon
Mm hmm. Yeah. So her mother obviously tried to contest her living there, which only costs more strain on their relationship. But her mother is even quoted it saying she'd say he's a Christian man. He preyed on that whole Christian thing with her. He wanted to rescue her from her broken home. And then Sarah is also quoted in a Kansas reflector article to even say, when I moved into the house I had no idea what was in store for me.
01:09:26:21 - 01:09:48:26
Brandon
I truly did think of him as a father figure to me. I had no idea. So at first it was your typical roommate situation. Sarah paid rent about her own food and things are pretty equal, but after some time he started to get a little controlling and tried to gain control of almost everything Sarah did. Eventually, after six months, Sarah turned 18 and Harold started to get a bit creepy.
01:09:48:29 - 01:10:12:03
Brandon
He would often try to get her to drink, smoke and partake in other party drugs. He even told Sarah that he loved her and he wanted to be with her. And in her words, she tried to. She she shut it down. But Harold didn't stop in. He kept. So Harold loved the feeling. He loved the feeling of feeling like he had power over Sarah.
01:10:12:09 - 01:10:34:14
Brandon
He even started to write down everything that he had bought and spent on her since she had moved in and presented her a tab of what she owed him. He told her that she wouldn't be able to leave his home until she paid him back for everything. Yeah. So it's this idea of making her feel trapped. And she's very young.
01:10:34:16 - 01:10:45:13
Brandon
She doesn't understand all of this. So he threatened her with legal action and the possibility of homelessness. And she believed him. So he's grooming. He's making her feel like she can't leave. She's well.
01:10:45:13 - 01:10:46:16
Luke Franchina
He starts.
01:10:46:19 - 01:10:47:26
Kevin
Tabulating, he's controlling.
01:10:47:26 - 01:10:50:27
Luke Franchina
And he had been grooming since they met when she was 114.
01:10:51:00 - 01:11:09:17
Brandon
So at this time, Sarah, who's working at Bed Bath and Beyond, and she only made minimum wage. So hearing this made her feel like she can never leave. She wouldn't be able to ever pay him back, even though she was giving him all of his money. All of her money at this point. So he was she was basically giving him her paycheck every every week.
01:11:09:19 - 01:11:27:12
Brandon
So eventually Harold started to demand sex from her to continue to live there. Being at such a young age in her past trauma, Sarah complied, although she is quoted to say, I was very crushed the first time this happened, and I felt completely helpless at this point.
01:11:27:16 - 01:11:30:23
Kevin
Did he know about her previous experiences with rape?
01:11:30:24 - 01:11:41:21
Brandon
Yes. Well, because he said because at rape when she was 15, she told him about that. And that's why he said he would protect her. Welcome. Move in with me. I'll protect you.
01:11:41:23 - 01:11:42:27
Luke Franchina
Yeah. When really.
01:11:42:27 - 01:11:44:05
Kevin
He was like.
01:11:44:07 - 01:11:44:14
Luke Franchina
My.
01:11:44:14 - 01:11:45:26
Kevin
Next one. Yeah.
01:11:45:28 - 01:12:07:11
Brandon
Yeah. So every time Harold would assault her, she would get drunk and high just to get through the trauma in. Harold also. Yeah. Harold also started to get on her about her appearance First. It started with her nose. He thought she needed a nose job, and so he made her get a nose job and he paid for it.
01:12:07:13 - 01:12:07:24
Luke Franchina
We got the.
01:12:07:24 - 01:12:10:07
Brandon
$6,000 bill was then added to her.
01:12:10:12 - 01:12:13:13
Luke Franchina
I was going to say. Then he probably added it to her. Yep. Yep.
01:12:13:15 - 01:12:33:09
Brandon
Then he went. Then he went for her figure, her actual like the figure of her body. He thought she was not curvy enough and he wanted her to be a curvier Barbie. And he even told her that no man would find her attractive because of her breasts, because her breasts were not big enough and her butt was not big enough.
01:12:33:11 - 01:12:35:22
Luke Franchina
I bet all this time he looked like the bottom. My shoe.
01:12:35:22 - 01:12:36:22
Kevin
200. Yeah.
01:12:36:24 - 01:12:37:24
Brandon
Yeah.
01:12:37:26 - 01:12:39:13
Kevin
Fucking shitbag.
01:12:39:15 - 01:12:41:05
Luke Franchina
Yeah. So. Right.
01:12:41:12 - 01:12:53:07
Brandon
So at the at the trial she testified in saying I think more than anything, he made me feel he owned me. I was a toy to him, like his personal Barbie doll. That's what he tried to make me.
01:12:53:07 - 01:12:55:06
Kevin
And that's 100% when he was young, purposely.
01:12:55:07 - 01:13:11:11
Brandon
Yeah. So he told her he wanted her to get a boob, her boobs done. And luckily, when they went to the doctor, the doctor said that she was too young. However, the doctor ended up giving her butt implants instead because apparently she was not too young to get her.
01:13:11:13 - 01:13:13:19
Luke Franchina
I'm sorry. Yeah.
01:13:13:21 - 01:13:15:24
Luke Franchina
Did you get like a PPO?
01:13:15:26 - 01:13:16:12
Brandon
Essentially?
01:13:16:12 - 01:13:17:04
Luke Franchina
Yeah, because.
01:13:17:04 - 01:13:18:11
Luke Franchina
I heard a baby.
01:13:18:14 - 01:13:18:23
Luke Franchina
Lift.
01:13:18:24 - 01:13:23:03
Luke Franchina
Oh, just. It's. It's just as, like, risky as having open heart surgery.
01:13:23:03 - 01:13:24:04
Luke Franchina
Yeah. Oh, my God.
01:13:24:04 - 01:13:27:05
Luke Franchina
Yeah. Yeah. Like It tends the same, like, risk aversion.
01:13:27:05 - 01:13:29:07
Luke Franchina
Oh, yeah, that's. Yeah.
01:13:29:10 - 01:13:39:15
Brandon
So obviously, Sarah objected to it. She didn't want it, but it didn't matter. So that 10,000, that $10,000 procedure was also added to her Bill.
01:13:39:17 - 01:13:40:00
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
01:13:40:02 - 01:14:02:29
Brandon
So as time went on, it's estimated that Harold would end up sexually assaulting Sarah roughly 2 to 3 times a week for the next ten months. Sarah Yeah, Over some time, Sarah started to snap and I think to me, like it makes total fucking sense that she would snap. Her demeanor started to change and her thought started to get darker.
01:14:03:01 - 01:14:13:02
Brandon
The drugs and alcohol with the prescription painkiller she was taking for the surgeries didn't help either, and it only exacerbated her past and her current PTSD all.
01:14:13:02 - 01:14:14:01
Kevin
Building on to. Yeah.
01:14:14:03 - 01:14:36:16
Brandon
So it's just adding layers and layers. So she was even quoted at trial saying I had violent thoughts for two years and they progressed. I guess they just became really intense. I've not been in a good place. It's it's like really hard to explain. Little things make me turn in, see red so her traumas and it's just he's just adding to it.
01:14:36:16 - 01:14:45:11
Kevin
He's going to catch you waiting. He is like he's continuously building upon and regenerating trauma. Yeah, like he. Oh, my God. Yeah. I hope he gets some really fucked up.
01:14:45:11 - 01:15:07:28
Brandon
Yeah. So we'll get there. One troubling thing that I saw in this process is and I saw this and I have this in here is the that one person came out to say, okay, let me scratch that. Let me do that. All right. So one troubling nice thing I saw I saw in couple of different sources, and it was listed as different people who had talked about this.
01:15:08:00 - 01:15:31:08
Brandon
But after I read a little bit more in after I started writing my notes, it was this happened to multiple people because this happened a couple different times. So this next a little bit happened a few times. So when this one trouble thing is that one person came out and said before the murder that they were at Harold's house and they had opened up the refrigerator to see a skinned rabbit in a bowl.
01:15:31:11 - 01:15:35:08
Brandon
Yeah and it was a rabbit that Sarah had purchased from a pet store.
01:15:35:11 - 01:15:37:27
Luke Franchina
Oh, yes.
01:15:38:00 - 01:15:43:17
Brandon
And she didn't like, get it like because you can eat rabbit. Rabbit is whatever, but you don't go to a pet store to get a.
01:15:43:22 - 01:15:44:07
Luke Franchina
A.
01:15:44:09 - 01:16:02:29
Brandon
Whatever rabbit. So it was a rabbit that Sarah purchased from a store that she used a knife to to kill and skin the animal the same person said that Sarah pulled the fur out of the trash and explained how she did it, how she stuck the knife through the rabbit's neck and explained that she wanted to learn how to self survive.
01:16:03:01 - 01:16:09:02
Brandon
In that the carcass was now in the refrigerator, marinating for dinner.
01:16:09:05 - 01:16:11:09
Luke Franchina
Okay. Yeah.
01:16:11:09 - 01:16:12:11
Brandon
So there's a lot right there.
01:16:12:11 - 01:16:12:22
Luke Franchina
Okay.
01:16:12:24 - 01:16:21:10
Brandon
That's self survival. She's trying to say that. Okay, well, it's in there for for dinner, but I want to learn self survival, self surviving in my mind.
01:16:21:10 - 01:16:26:03
Luke Franchina
It's like she's preparing to, like, live it in the wilderness or something. Like she's going to run away. Yeah.
01:16:26:03 - 01:16:28:24
Kevin
And I also was kind of like, You going to tell me that Harold.
01:16:28:24 - 01:16:29:19
Luke Franchina
Didn't know Me too.
01:16:29:19 - 01:16:29:29
Luke Franchina
I know.
01:16:30:04 - 01:16:31:05
Kevin
Then you said Sarah didn't.
01:16:31:08 - 01:16:48:27
Brandon
Like it was Sarah, because, again, she's starting to snap. All of these things are happening in her emotions and all of these different things are happening, and she's trying to just figure out how to survive. Yeah, Yeah. Which to me, when I read the Survival skills this, she's trying to protect herself because she thinks something bad is going to happen 100%.
01:16:49:00 - 01:17:11:06
Brandon
Yeah. At this point, Sarah was physically and mentally abused in the thought to be in and she thought to be financially stuck with a manipulative man who is constantly telling her that nobody would want her, not even her family. So two days before the murder, Sarah ended up texting her sister, saying, I'm starting to realize I don't want the want the dream everyone wants for me.
01:17:11:06 - 01:17:26:22
Brandon
I don't want the American dream. I want real freedom and I know how to get it. And I have to give up a lot. I feel like a caged, which that's heartbreaking just even knowing what's happening next. It's heartbreaking to just, you know what?
01:17:26:22 - 01:17:31:06
Kevin
She was just like. She was the perfect victim for Harold. Yes. She just walked.
01:17:31:13 - 01:17:38:10
Brandon
In. He knew when he preyed on it. Yeah. So on the night of January 14th, 2014, Sarah officially.
01:17:38:12 - 01:17:42:01
Luke Franchina
Snapped. Snapped? Yeah. Oh, I think so. Yeah.
01:17:42:04 - 01:17:55:13
Brandon
Harold had just returned from home from work. He decided to go work on his speaker system, and he asked Sarah to bring him a beer and he and keep bringing him beers whenever he asked, which was, I think, just something that just he always said whenever he wanted to.
01:17:55:16 - 01:17:56:08
Kevin
Fuck you. Harold.
01:17:56:08 - 01:17:57:20
Luke Franchina
Yeah. Fuck you, Harold and Larry.
01:17:57:20 - 01:17:58:26
Luke Franchina
Yeah Yeah.
01:17:58:27 - 01:18:00:04
Luke Franchina
No, Larry. No, Larry.
01:18:00:04 - 01:18:02:23
Luke Franchina
Not that Larry we like. Yeah, that was our.
01:18:02:23 - 01:18:03:18
Kevin
Version of Harold that we.
01:18:03:18 - 01:18:03:27
Luke Franchina
Like.
01:18:03:28 - 01:18:06:21
Luke Franchina
No, no. Yeah. You know.
01:18:06:24 - 01:18:38:01
Brandon
This is actually the second Harold I've done a story on, but the first Harold was the murderer. This one's an abuser, so fuck all Harold's. Yeah. So as Harold drank his his beers, he to his fourth. His fourth beer he was drinking. What he didn't know was Sarah ended up crushing some of the Ambien pills she had hiding from him and poured it into the can, which she did on the fourth cam because she was worried he would taste it in his beer if he was not already intoxicated, which to me, I read this and I was like, fuck, yes, Sarah, Oh my God.
01:18:38:01 - 01:18:39:08
Luke Franchina
Say to him.
01:18:39:10 - 01:18:50:17
Brandon
Okay, so after a few more beers and five pills total, Harold ended up passing out on the floor and taking in, taking her chance. He quickly grabbed zip ties and bound his wrists together.
01:18:50:23 - 01:18:51:11
Luke Franchina
Oh, shit.
01:18:51:13 - 01:18:59:14
Brandon
Yeah. So I have in here, and this is where I'm going to call a trigger warning. If you don't to hear violent acts, just skip. Just skip a little bit.
01:18:59:14 - 01:19:01:01
Kevin
Let's do this. If you're listening to.
01:19:01:01 - 01:19:02:03
Luke Franchina
This, I know you'll want.
01:19:02:03 - 01:19:02:18
Brandon
To hear this.
01:19:02:18 - 01:19:03:02
Luke Franchina
There might have to.
01:19:03:02 - 01:19:09:16
Luke Franchina
Be a trigger warning. Maybe a little bit, too. I know, But I also think that everyone's going to like gas. Yeah. So, yeah, for.
01:19:09:16 - 01:19:10:02
Luke Franchina
The next part.
01:19:10:08 - 01:19:36:08
Brandon
Yeah. So? So then Sarah decided to grab the same hunting knife, which she was already familiar with because of killing rabbits and looked for his pulse on his neck. And then with his precision, because what I didn't add in here a couple of days before the murder, they found records of her looking up like soft spots on your neck and, her online.
01:19:36:10 - 01:19:52:28
Brandon
So she violently stabbed Harold in his carotid artery. She then grabbed his head, kept it in place as she took the knife and, slashed his neck with a sawing motion, going side to side. By the time Sarah stopped, she nearly decapitated him.
01:19:53:00 - 01:19:53:28
Luke Franchina
Oh.
01:19:54:01 - 01:20:00:05
Kevin
Yes okay. Is it really bad that my mind is going to still let him wake up and then done it?
01:20:00:08 - 01:20:06:17
Brandon
Well, there was he was just there wasn't one note that I saw something. He was, like, groggy. Still. Okay. Yeah.
01:20:06:17 - 01:20:08:26
Luke Franchina
So as she got up.
01:20:08:28 - 01:20:19:18
Brandon
To go to the sink to clean off the blood, she stopped for a moment to write the words Freedom on the walls with his blood. So a story written in blood. Because that's all she wanted.
01:20:19:18 - 01:20:20:09
Kevin
A great title.
01:20:20:09 - 01:20:21:08
Brandon
She wanted her freedom.
01:20:21:09 - 01:20:21:19
Luke Franchina
It was good.
01:20:21:26 - 01:20:33:04
Brandon
So from here, Sarah, to figure out what her next move was, she hopped in the shower to wash off the blood, called into work, and let them know that she would not be in for a few days because of a death in the family.
01:20:33:07 - 01:20:36:00
Luke Franchina
Only. Oh, right.
01:20:36:02 - 01:20:52:20
Brandon
She packed her bags, grabbed her dog, Oliver, who is a big black lab, which I haven't mentioned, which I didn't see in the notes until this point. Anyways, she jumped into Harold's 28 Nissan Altima and drove off into the distance, conveniently leaving her phone behind so no one could track her to him.
01:20:52:20 - 01:20:54:11
Kevin
So was kind of somewhere, right?
01:20:54:13 - 01:21:11:20
Brandon
So on January 17th, the people at CC's Pizza started to get worried because Harold hadn't shown up for a few days. So they called the police, who then headed to Harold's house after knocking and no one answered. The police officer tried to peer into the window and that's when he saw the body of Harold laying in a pool of his own blood.
01:21:11:22 - 01:21:30:17
Brandon
Quickly, Sarah had become a suspect and they marked her off as a missing person because she was missing at that time. And so once leaving Topeka after the murder, Sarah headed south to Texas, being she was so young, didn't have much money. She stayed most nights in her car and various rest stops. Being that it was January and cold.
01:21:30:17 - 01:21:47:16
Brandon
She had decided when she got to Texas that she wanted to head to Florida because, you know, everything ends in Florida, you know, knowing that she would eventually get caught, she thought it would be nice to go see the ocean. And there was also a tattoo artist that Sarah really liked and she wanted to get some. Oh.
01:21:47:18 - 01:21:49:09
Luke Franchina
Wow. Right. Okay. I thought that.
01:21:49:09 - 01:21:50:19
Brandon
Was a weird ad, but.
01:21:50:21 - 01:21:51:09
Luke Franchina
I mean.
01:21:51:11 - 01:21:53:28
Brandon
They almost didn't add it in here. But I thought.
01:21:54:01 - 01:21:54:23
Luke Franchina
Well, I want to.
01:21:54:23 - 01:21:55:16
Luke Franchina
Know what she got. Yeah.
01:21:55:16 - 01:22:21:06
Brandon
So she made it to Florida to see the tattoo tattoo artist James Baker, where she spent $200 on a quote that she got on her rib cage. And it was a quote from the 1992 murder mystery novel Eye is for Innocent by Sue Grafton. In the quote was Beware the dark pool at the bottom of our hearts in its icy black depths dwells strange and twisted creatures.
01:22:21:09 - 01:22:23:17
Brandon
It is best not to disturb.
01:22:23:20 - 01:22:24:08
Luke Franchina
Wow.
01:22:24:09 - 01:22:25:19
Luke Franchina
Oh, I just got goose right.
01:22:25:23 - 01:22:26:09
Luke Franchina
And I saw.
01:22:26:09 - 01:22:27:19
Brandon
That. And I was like, I'm going to add that because.
01:22:27:19 - 01:22:28:23
Kevin
That's fucking poetic.
01:22:28:23 - 01:22:33:22
Luke Franchina
I know. Like, oh, my God. But like, Oh, it's really scary, right? You know?
01:22:33:26 - 01:22:55:21
Brandon
So on January 25th at 10:30 p.m., 11 days after the murder, a police officer came upon a stolen car in the Everglades National Park. So if you don't know, Florida Everglades National Park is at the bottom of Florida. So she drove very fucking far. Yeah. In that 11 days. So waking up, he noticed the women are walking up.
01:22:55:21 - 01:23:11:01
Brandon
He noticed the woman sleeping, knocking, waking her up. He saw Sarah sleeping next to a loaded gun inside the car. The police also discovered $2,399 in cash, two guns, an ax, two knives, one being a bloodstained murder weapon.
01:23:11:02 - 01:23:12:04
Luke Franchina
Oh, my God. She kept.
01:23:12:05 - 01:23:12:29
Luke Franchina
It. She did that?
01:23:13:03 - 01:23:39:19
Brandon
Yeah. So when Sarah started to be interrogated, she initially told the detectives that she just didn't feel anything when she when all of that happened. But then she changed to say that when she saw Harold died, that everything was screaming at her. Wow. Right So she admitted to the police that she wanted to see someone die in when and she wanted to see what it felt like to kill someone.
01:23:39:22 - 01:23:52:24
Brandon
But with the idea that she the emotionally, physically, mentally drained. She's speaking and she's saying these things that she might not necessarily be saying, but she's coming off of being drugged and all this.
01:23:52:24 - 01:23:53:18
Luke Franchina
Other stuff.
01:23:53:21 - 01:23:55:13
Luke Franchina
Like, I'm sorry. Oh, truly.
01:23:55:16 - 01:24:03:15
Luke Franchina
All the drugs like, Yeah, I don't even think about that. Like coming off because she drugged her up. Yeah. And if she's going off of those things, but.
01:24:03:16 - 01:24:07:00
Kevin
Also, I'm sure there's some sort of this mental illness. Yeah.
01:24:07:03 - 01:24:29:26
Brandon
Absolutely. And it's really interesting that you said stuff about media, because my next line is, and when the media heard about this, they went wild, which is really unfortunate because articles and reports were coming about out about this femme fatal, that Lord man to his death and the idea that she was sexually and mentally abused went ignored, even though it was obvious with their 33 year age gap that there was more to.
01:24:29:26 - 01:24:31:21
Luke Franchina
A three year age. Yeah.
01:24:31:23 - 01:24:59:12
Brandon
So the prosecution also played this up as well. And there's no trigger warning here, but it will piss you off. This the rest of this pisses me off. So before the trial in 2015, they met with the prosecution and the defense met with the trial judge in a door meeting. In this meeting, the prosecution argued that any communication about the alleged abuse would be inappropriate for the jury to hear.
01:24:59:15 - 01:25:18:10
Brandon
White Yeah. According to the transcripts of the meeting, they said to the judge that the details of those allegations would not appear proper in front of the jury during the guilt phase of the trial, because they would simply they would be simply information. It would be simply information that would be used to create sympathy for the defendant.
01:25:18:12 - 01:25:25:10
Luke Franchina
Okay, well, no fucking. Yeah. Okay. Hello? Yeah, like what? But, yeah, yeah, it.
01:25:25:11 - 01:25:32:05
Brandon
This pisses me off. They continued saying that the abuse was prevalent. Information is.
01:25:32:11 - 01:25:39:08
Luke Franchina
Irrelevant. Irrelevant? Yeah. I fucked up so much that I don't even have much to say.
01:25:39:12 - 01:25:41:03
Brandon
I'm like, That's not how you say the word nigger.
01:25:41:03 - 01:25:42:05
Luke Franchina
It didn't. Brendan is so.
01:25:42:05 - 01:25:43:23
Kevin
Cute on this podcast because he.
01:25:43:27 - 01:25:48:21
Luke Franchina
Mispronounce that. And so just like, it's just adorable, you know, his dyslexia kicks in.
01:25:48:23 - 01:25:57:18
Brandon
So they also said how the abuse if made public that the media outlets would write about it which would sway jurors when they were away from court.
01:25:57:25 - 01:26:00:27
Luke Franchina
So people need the full picture. I know.
01:26:00:27 - 01:26:05:16
Luke Franchina
Like, so how are you supposed to try somebody and not give all the information?
01:26:05:18 - 01:26:07:03
Luke Franchina
Exactly. And this is.
01:26:07:05 - 01:26:09:05
Luke Franchina
Because they want they want to win. Exactly. It's not about.
01:26:09:05 - 01:26:23:03
Brandon
Hoping. Exactly. And this is also why the judicial system is so fucking flawed, because it should not be possible because eventually the judge agreed, Oh, the abuse was not presented at the trial, which is obviously very fucked up.
01:26:23:03 - 01:26:24:14
Luke Franchina
What the hell? Yeah.
01:26:24:14 - 01:26:27:20
Luke Franchina
So you basically like that was? Like. Like putting the nail in the coffin.
01:26:27:20 - 01:26:30:23
Brandon
It's basically saying that she's just a murderer. That she did it just for no fucking.
01:26:30:24 - 01:26:32:11
Luke Franchina
Yeah. In a jury that doesn't and.
01:26:32:11 - 01:26:38:12
Luke Franchina
That, you know they're going to take that. What, what she told the police. I just wanted to see someone die like, ah like I just want to see what it's like to murder and.
01:26:38:17 - 01:26:40:11
Luke Franchina
You know, they're going to use that. Yeah, but.
01:26:40:11 - 01:26:44:11
Luke Franchina
They can't use everything before that. Like, let her up to this. Oh, my God.
01:26:44:11 - 01:27:05:10
Brandon
And it's that, too, because once, once Sarah knew that this happens, as she was quoted in saying, I never had this mentality of I'm just going to get out scot free. That's not that's what I'm fighting for. That's that's what I want. But I did always want was if she wanted, what was her. Yeah, she said, but I did always want what was fair.
01:27:05:15 - 01:27:09:14
Brandon
If you don't say everything that happened, how can somebody decide what's exactly.
01:27:09:14 - 01:27:09:28
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
01:27:10:01 - 01:27:25:24
Brandon
So during the trial, Sarah's defense team stressed that Sarah suffered from disassociated of identity disorder, which is which is what we call now called multiple personality disorder, which made it impossible for her the murder to premeditated.
01:27:25:25 - 01:27:32:10
Kevin
I feel like that probably because that's what they were able to use. That probably aided in not sympathy for her.
01:27:32:10 - 01:27:56:29
Brandon
Yeah, well, however, the prosecution came back at them saying that it was all exaggerating symptoms of mental illness. So on December 2020, the case finally came to a close and well, I probably shouldn't say that because it didn't come so close. But was Sarah was found guilty in the district Judge Paula martin sentenced Sarah to a hard 50 sentence.
01:27:57:01 - 01:28:22:18
Brandon
So a hard 50 is where it's a life sentence with a mandatory 50 years before she would ever be eligible for parole, making her around 70 years old by the time she would be able to potentially be released. So but it's not but it's not over because after the trial, Sarah appealed the sentence on the grounds that she had ineffective counsel, being that he couldn't actually defend her.
01:28:22:20 - 01:28:25:25
Brandon
And if she was if he wasn't able to get them to show all of the evidence.
01:28:25:26 - 01:28:26:15
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
01:28:26:17 - 01:28:50:01
Brandon
There were some other things that hurt her. Her judge, her defense team did that was really shitty. So at the same time, advocates of Sarah's were able to uncover more evidence that was not presented to the jury and not investigated and to try to get the governor to grant her clemency. Okay. So at this time, it was found that Harold was even more of a dirtbag than we already thought.
01:28:50:01 - 01:29:02:16
Brandon
So the the group in this search found that they found evidence of Harold grooming Sarah. Since she was 14, Harold downloaded hundreds of violent porn on his phone.
01:29:02:16 - 01:29:04:00
Kevin
Of course he did it.
01:29:04:03 - 01:29:18:15
Brandon
He had visited multiple porn sites that featured children, teens and bestiality, which is real great. He visited he visited websites that also featured men, men fondling or having sex with women who appeared to be sleeping.
01:29:18:16 - 01:29:20:08
Luke Franchina
Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
01:29:20:10 - 01:29:35:10
Brandon
Yeah. And they also found in confidential reports that the police uncovered the fact that Harold was in the process of grooming 216 year old twins before he died. He would give them cash, buy them gas, clothes and weed and more.
01:29:35:12 - 01:29:37:09
Luke Franchina
Yeah, I discovered.
01:29:37:09 - 01:29:40:15
Brandon
That. Yeah, From what I saw, they had. And it wasn't a clue.
01:29:40:16 - 01:29:40:28
Luke Franchina
It wasn't.
01:29:40:28 - 01:30:12:07
Brandon
A report. Oh, yeah. And so all of this, this paired with the other abuse in the the sexual assault with Sarah was all blocked from the jury. In May of 2021, the Douglas County District attorney reviewed the evidence and was surprised that it was dismissed in court and ended up resentenced Sarah to a hard 25. However, the length of her term will still ultimately be determined by the parole board, which will at least get to sit in front of 25 years sooner than she was.
01:30:12:07 - 01:30:13:29
Kevin
So they didn't want to do a retrial?
01:30:14:01 - 01:30:38:00
Brandon
Well, no, they did. They had this this district attorney had the both parties, her new defense attorney, because she got a new defense attorney and the prosecution come together. I mean, they it was a bunch of legal jargon that I couldn't really understand and I didn't want to misinterpret it, but it ended up with them agreeing to re sentencing her to the hard 25.
01:30:38:00 - 01:30:41:11
Brandon
So now she has a maximum of 25 years in prison.
01:30:41:18 - 01:30:44:02
Kevin
And she's been serving since 2014.
01:30:44:05 - 01:30:48:00
Brandon
Since what she. Yes. Yeah. Essentially they.
01:30:48:00 - 01:30:49:05
Luke Franchina
Like retro.
01:30:49:10 - 01:30:50:11
Brandon
I believe they do.
01:30:50:14 - 01:30:50:17
Luke Franchina
They.
01:30:50:17 - 01:30:53:20
Kevin
Back Yeah. Like back to be like okay we've like because sometimes.
01:30:53:20 - 01:30:55:11
Luke Franchina
He was already served or Yeah.
01:30:55:18 - 01:30:57:09
Luke Franchina
She already served like.
01:30:57:09 - 01:30:58:10
Kevin
Almost ten years.
01:30:58:13 - 01:30:59:01
Luke Franchina
Yeah. Yeah.
01:30:59:05 - 01:31:06:05
Brandon
So that's the story of Sarah Gonzalez McClinton Sérums. So fuck you, Harold. You deserved it, you hero.
01:31:06:07 - 01:31:08:12
Luke Franchina
Um, it's. Yeah.
01:31:08:14 - 01:31:11:21
Kevin
But see there was another situation of somebody who could not get out.
01:31:11:24 - 01:31:15:12
Luke Franchina
Yeah, like she didn't see any other way, and she was so young.
01:31:15:12 - 01:31:16:12
Brandon
Yeah, she was so young.
01:31:16:12 - 01:31:16:26
Luke Franchina
So young.
01:31:17:02 - 01:31:24:22
Brandon
And she didn't know better, Right? So if somebody is threatening with legal action and this and that and saying, Gary, Oh, here's your tab. You have to pay me or I will take you to court.
01:31:24:29 - 01:31:26:00
Luke Franchina
And she goes, and you don't know.
01:31:26:00 - 01:31:31:20
Luke Franchina
An animal in a cage. And when you put animal in a cage and you're threatening, like, what are they going to do?
01:31:31:20 - 01:31:32:18
Brandon
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:31:32:20 - 01:31:34:19
Luke Franchina
Like, I mean it.
01:31:34:22 - 01:31:37:11
Kevin
Yeah. It's all so it's just.
01:31:37:12 - 01:31:38:09
Brandon
All unfortunate yeah.
01:31:38:09 - 01:31:47:03
Luke Franchina
And of course, again, the justice system failed once again. Shocker. Because they didn't present all the facts.
01:31:47:06 - 01:31:48:23
Luke Franchina
So before you get.
01:31:48:23 - 01:31:51:24
Luke Franchina
The full picture of who this year. I'm sorry, it's. It's relevant.
01:31:51:24 - 01:32:08:01
Brandon
Yeah. Why did she do this? Well, yeah. What provoked her to do it? And it's not like she just was born or bred into being a murderer. She. She went through a traumatic experience after traumatic experience, and her PTSD went undying. No.
01:32:08:03 - 01:32:08:21
Luke Franchina
And she would.
01:32:08:21 - 01:32:13:13
Kevin
Somebody leverage to to continue retraumatizing. Yeah. I mean, that's what what he was doing.
01:32:13:13 - 01:32:20:22
Luke Franchina
And I'm not saying she doesn't need to have like does he need some intervention of some type that that she needed help. Yeah. But that's what she needed help.
01:32:20:26 - 01:32:21:13
Brandon
She did.
01:32:21:15 - 01:32:22:11
Luke Franchina
Like and she.
01:32:22:11 - 01:32:23:12
Brandon
Needed somebody to support.
01:32:23:12 - 01:32:32:20
Luke Franchina
Her sending her to prison for 25 years is not always solution. Like no, maybe actually helping.
01:32:32:20 - 01:32:33:23
Luke Franchina
Yeah. And maybe ultimately.
01:32:33:23 - 01:32:37:15
Kevin
She killed someone. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So I do I think that there's some sort.
01:32:37:15 - 01:32:38:03
Luke Franchina
Of.
01:32:38:05 - 01:32:40:02
Kevin
Repercussions for that. Yeah, but.
01:32:40:08 - 01:32:41:19
Luke Franchina
But they didn't get the full. No.
01:32:41:19 - 01:32:52:04
Luke Franchina
And that for them to even like for her like to get help in the sense to like her mental well-being. Yeah. Like, you know, that's not probably happening in the prison system.
01:32:52:05 - 01:32:53:27
Luke Franchina
Yeah. Well, ineffectively, Yeah.
01:32:53:27 - 01:33:05:23
Brandon
In the, what I think is super setting too is that depending on the parole board, she might not get granted release. Right. And in what if it's a bunch of men that are misogynistic and feel the same way as Harold did, Right. Like, is.
01:33:05:23 - 01:33:07:08
Kevin
She in jail.
01:33:07:11 - 01:33:08:08
Brandon
I you?
01:33:08:09 - 01:33:09:07
Luke Franchina
I believe she's.
01:33:09:08 - 01:33:10:02
Luke Franchina
Or I believe.
01:33:10:02 - 01:33:11:02
Brandon
She's in Kansas, but I'd have to.
01:33:11:02 - 01:33:14:07
Kevin
Double check. Yeah, but but they're in states that don't think.
01:33:14:07 - 01:33:18:15
Brandon
I think they're in Douglas County which is Topeka in that area.
01:33:18:21 - 01:33:20:05
Luke Franchina
I believe. So you're in. Yeah, yeah.
01:33:20:06 - 01:33:24:28
Brandon
Yeah. Because essentially the murder happened in Kansas. They will be extradited back.
01:33:25:00 - 01:33:27:20
Kevin
To their well. Well, that's.
01:33:27:20 - 01:33:33:01
Luke Franchina
It's like I just. I just. It's unfortunate that we don't have a system that wants to actually help.
01:33:33:08 - 01:33:34:06
Brandon
Yeah.
01:33:34:08 - 01:33:49:09
Kevin
It doesn't it. I think that there's more to be gained in prosecution. Yeah, there is. And to Yeah. I mean I think that that's why they, they really start to try to build cases on circumstantial evidence. You're like, are you sure this is the person?
01:33:49:09 - 01:33:49:28
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
01:33:50:00 - 01:33:55:05
Kevin
Because it's much easier to, like, hone in and win than it is to like, let's actually find the true.
01:33:55:07 - 01:33:58:11
Luke Franchina
Yeah, let's. The jury found the truth, like, yeah. And do what's right.
01:33:58:12 - 01:33:59:12
Luke Franchina
Yeah. Well in the.
01:33:59:12 - 01:34:07:00
Kevin
Prosecutors to go to that judge and to be like all of this these alleged and they found so much evidence it's like yeah why would you exclude.
01:34:07:00 - 01:34:09:05
Luke Franchina
That. Well I know exactly the full scope.
01:34:09:05 - 01:34:09:21
Brandon
It doesn't.
01:34:09:21 - 01:34:10:16
Luke Franchina
And you know.
01:34:10:19 - 01:34:11:01
Luke Franchina
And it.
01:34:11:01 - 01:34:34:18
Brandon
Shouldn't be. It's just gross because the legal world, their job is to make sure that their client gets the best outcome, Right? Yeah. And so for the prosecutors, it's they don't care about who he was or what he did. They just want to win the case. They don't really care about what she went through, what anything. And to me, defense attorneys are really shitty.
01:34:34:21 - 01:34:48:13
Brandon
The criminal defense criminal defense attorneys are just shitty. And I know we know a few and you know it. It's just sucks because your job is to make the person who went through the worst experiences of their life pay for things that they.
01:34:48:13 - 01:34:59:28
Kevin
Shouldn't necessarily have to pay for. And there, you know, it's just it's awful. Poor Sarah. Oh, my God. But Harold, I'm sorry. He deserved that. Yeah. Yeah. So I don't really feel bad for him. Never trust.
01:34:59:28 - 01:35:04:12
Luke Franchina
No, I don't. Or I don't feel bad. I mean, honestly. Yeah. Fuck, Larry and.
01:35:04:16 - 01:35:04:22
Kevin
Also.
01:35:04:22 - 01:35:05:22
Luke Franchina
Zero to, like.
01:35:05:22 - 01:35:08:11
Kevin
Technically saved Sarah saved those other two girls and his.
01:35:08:11 - 01:35:09:12
Luke Franchina
Brother. Oh, you mean.
01:35:09:14 - 01:35:10:18
Luke Franchina
You don't want. Yeah, essentially.
01:35:10:21 - 01:35:16:11
Kevin
Right. Like they didn't experience what she experienced. She killed them.
01:35:16:11 - 01:35:25:05
Luke Franchina
Yeah. So he would have that crazy thing is he would have gone after, he would have discarded her like, Yeah.
01:35:25:07 - 01:35:25:22
Luke Franchina
That's probably.
01:35:25:22 - 01:35:26:04
Kevin
Why he was.
01:35:26:04 - 01:35:34:08
Luke Franchina
Grooming. I know he was and he was grooming his next to. Yeah. And it wouldn't have even those type of people, it wouldn't have even like affected him. He would just move.
01:35:34:08 - 01:35:35:14
Brandon
On to the next one.
01:35:35:16 - 01:35:44:08
Luke Franchina
You ruin somebody's life and then onto the next one. That's it. More people like that's what it is like. That's just sick. Yeah. I'm so sick.
01:35:44:10 - 01:35:45:22
Brandon
Wow. Minidress.
01:35:46:00 - 01:35:47:02
Luke Franchina
That was. That was.
01:35:47:02 - 01:35:48:19
Luke Franchina
So. Oh, my God.
01:35:48:19 - 01:35:51:16
Brandon
I told you that one had some layers. Yeah.
01:35:51:19 - 01:35:53:13
Luke Franchina
I mean, both of these were, like, very Like.
01:35:53:13 - 01:35:54:01
Luke Franchina
Well.
01:35:54:03 - 01:36:00:04
Kevin
Yeah, I agree. Oh, my God. Well, um. Oh, okay. Well, that's a wrap.
01:36:00:04 - 01:36:00:28
Luke Franchina
Luke.
01:36:01:00 - 01:36:02:03
Brandon
Thank you so much for coming.
01:36:02:03 - 01:36:03:07
Luke Franchina
In and joining us.
01:36:03:09 - 01:36:04:04
Luke Franchina
Works. I know it's.
01:36:04:04 - 01:36:04:25
Kevin
You. How do you.
01:36:04:25 - 01:36:09:00
Luke Franchina
Feel? I just. I feel. I feel bad.
01:36:09:06 - 01:36:10:14
Luke Franchina
Honestly, I feel.
01:36:10:17 - 01:36:11:08
Brandon
Sorry to leave.
01:36:11:08 - 01:36:16:22
Luke Franchina
You know, I really just feel so bad because I know there's people that are going through situations like this right now.
01:36:16:24 - 01:36:17:15
Brandon
Oh, 100%.
01:36:17:15 - 01:36:34:29
Luke Franchina
And and I for one, I mean, of course, I can talk about dumping or dumping his ass. Yeah. And doing what's best for you. But I just know some people feel so stuck in. So if you ever feel stuck just know that like you do have people that care for you.
01:36:35:01 - 01:36:35:10
Luke Franchina
And that.
01:36:35:10 - 01:36:35:22
Kevin
People will.
01:36:35:22 - 01:36:50:05
Luke Franchina
Believe you. Yeah. People. And there's people that want to help. And, and I really hope that I don't know, I can figure out a way to help more from my end. Do you think that's something now that like I. I need to figure out how I agree.
01:36:50:08 - 01:37:15:18
Kevin
Well but I do think that to give you to see some love your way you I think, have impacted people just on your platform. Thank you in the community that you have more than you'll probably ever know. I think that that when you become, you know, at a certain level and certainly where you're at, I think that you have absolutely motivated people through your through your comedic, you know, approach, but also through your approach.
01:37:15:21 - 01:37:16:03
Luke Franchina
You.
01:37:16:05 - 01:37:26:28
Kevin
To to figure out how to do that. So I think you're doing quite a bit in general. But yeah, whatever, God, whatever we could do. I think that what we have to do is love hard.
01:37:27:01 - 01:37:27:21
Luke Franchina
Yeah.
01:37:27:24 - 01:37:45:10
Kevin
And love our friends hard and be there for them and believe them. Offer whatever support that we can to help get them out of a situation. Yeah, and that's what we can do. And, and it's hard. I think that you also have identify, you know, when people change, there's a reason someone's changed.
01:37:45:10 - 01:38:05:00
Luke Franchina
Yeah. Like if you notice something different in a friend or family member and you know something's off like yeah I encouraged to let them know that you're there. That's like, like for me, like all my friends, I hope they know that, like, I'm a safe place of solitude. Yeah. So if you ever needed anything, like, call me like.
01:38:05:02 - 01:38:14:12
Luke Franchina
Yeah. Yes, Mom, I keep my mouth shut, but I also like a place that you can come to me if you need a place to stay. And I want to be that person.
01:38:14:15 - 01:38:16:12
Kevin
I'll call you. Yeah.
01:38:16:14 - 01:38:24:15
Luke Franchina
You're like, Well, I. I don't like what's going on. I'm not sorry I'm not abusing him. I swear. It's like I feel like unless.
01:38:24:15 - 01:38:26:17
Brandon
He asks for it.
01:38:26:20 - 01:38:37:00
Luke Franchina
Oh, I'm just kidding. I he's like, I love. He goes, Oh, oh, mine. And I also.
01:38:37:00 - 01:38:38:12
Brandon
Love cause my parents listen to this.
01:38:38:18 - 01:38:40:06
Luke Franchina
Oh, they oh, I love.
01:38:40:06 - 01:38:41:07
Luke Franchina
That.
01:38:41:09 - 01:38:43:28
Kevin
I taught them what a room job was that like, showed them.
01:38:43:28 - 01:38:47:03
Luke Franchina
But no. Okay, okay. He's like, okay.
01:38:47:03 - 01:38:47:16
Brandon
Then.
01:38:47:17 - 01:38:52:02
Luke Franchina
